Three Americans gunned down in Kabul hospital attack
Three Americans were gunned down by a policeman at a hospital in Kabul. A spokesman for Afghanistan's interior ministry said those killed were "medical staff".

The US embassy in Kabul tweeted that it was "with great sadness we confirm that three Americans were killed in the attack on Cure Hospital".

Police say that the attack happened when a policeman at a nearby checkpoint opened fire on a group of five or six foreigners who were entering the facility.
Police say that the attack happened when a policeman at a nearby checkpoint opened fire on a group of five or six foreigners who were entering the facility. A spokesman for the interior ministry said that three had died, including two women. Others were being treated for their injuries.

Thursday's attack took place at a hospital run by Cure, a small US Christian charity. The charity Cure took over the hospital seven years ago and restored it to specialize in providing healthcare for women and children. The 100-bed hospital employs 27 doctors and 64 nurses.

Bomb Blast in Kenya Leaves 4 Dead
[VOA News] Kenyan officials say a kaboom outside a cop shoppe in Nairobi late Wednesday killed four people, including two coppers. The incident came in the midst of a countrywide security crackdown against undocumented Democrats and terror suspects.

Police Sherlocks worked into the night Wednesday poring over the twisted and charred remains of the car destroyed in a powerful kaboom outside the Pangani cop shoppe.

Shopkeeper Bosco Mugendi was serving a customer from his kiosk directly across the street at the time of the blast.

"It just went off. I heard a big sound like a thunderstorm, then I saw something like fire and smoke, which gave me a big blow and I just ran outside. I didn't even remember to close my kiosk," said Mugendi.

Two coppers were killed in the blast, along with the driver and another passenger.

Community police official Patrick Lumumba said the coppers were inside the car that was carrying the explosives, having pulled it over earlier for driving on the wrong side of the road.

"The two coppers entered in their vehicle followed by a patrol car and as they were coming to the cop shoppe it seems as if they had already put on everything ready, and at this place is when they detonated," said Lumumba.

Lumumba suspects the bombers may have been planning to attack a live television event taking place nearby, but were diverted by the two officers.

"The police are doing a good job and we still cannot relent. We want the police to continue, the only thing we will advise the police is when they suspect any vehicle, we need a thorough check even before the vehicle is taken to the cop shoppe," he said.

Policemen, Militant Killed In Egypt During Raid
[Ynet] Egyptian forces raid radical Islamist hideout in Alexandria, killing one.

An Egyptian policeman and a murderous Moslem were killed when security forces raided a hideout used by radical Islamists near Alexandria on Wednesday, and a senior officer was killed near Cairo when a bomb blew up his car, the Interior Ministry said.

Militant violence has spiraled since last July, when the army toppled elected head of state Mohammed Mursi and the authorities launched a fierce crackdown on his supporters in the Moslem Brüderbund and other Islamist sympathizers.

The attacks underline lingering instability in Egypt ahead of a presidential election in May that Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the former army chief who deposed Mursi, is expected to win. The prime minister said the state was in "a fierce war" on terror.

The hideout targeted by police at dawn on Wednesday was used by Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis
...Supporters of Jerusalem, the current pen name of al-Qaeda in the Sinai Peninsula...
, or Supporters of Jerusalem, the group behind some of the deadliest attacks of the last nine months, the Interior Ministry said.

The bully boyz had opened fire on the security forces as they arrived at the hideout in Borg El Arab, some 45 km (28 miles) south-west of Alexandria.

The police officer killed in the raid was named as First Lieutenant Ahmed Saad and the dead murderous Moslem as Hassan Abdel Aal, a 25-year old from the Nile Delta province of Dakahlia.

Two other bully boyz were detained, the ministry front man, Hany Abdel Latif, said in a televised statement. Footage broadcast on state TV appeared to show the body of a murderous Moslem on the ground.

The bully boyz were "among the dangerous elements of the terrorist group Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, which was planning to target police and military facilities and the security forces", the ministry said.

The police seized weapons including boom belts, automatic weapons, hand grenades and ammunition.Around 500 people have been killed in attacks since last July, mostly coppers and soldiers. The threat has been compounded by a flow of weapons from neighbouring Libya.

"The state ... is in a fierce war against the forces of terror and extremism that want to obstruct the country's path," Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab said in comments posed on an official Facebook page on Wednesday.

Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis has grabbed credit for attacks including a failed attempt
Curses! Foiled again!
to blow up the interior minister last September, and large kabooms on cop shoppes.

The United States this month designated Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis as a terrorist group. The group first emerged in the Sinai Peninsula in 2011 after the downfall of Hosni Mubarak
...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011...
. Since last summer, it has switched its focus from attacking Israel to targeting Egyptian security forces.

It has also grabbed credit for a Feb. 16 attack that killed three South Korean tourists in the Sinai Peninsula.

Islamists threaten Mizdah doctors
[MAGHAREBIA] Islamists raided a hospital in Mizdah to prevent male doctors from treating women, Libya Herald reported on Wednesday (April 23rd).

The assailants forced two male specialists in obstetrics and gynaecology to leave the hospital in the Nafusa region, some 190 kilometres southwest of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
"People tried to intervene, but they were unable to stop the men," a Mizdah Local Council member said.

"Now there are no specialist gynaecological doctors at the hospital and local people will have to travel to other towns and cities to receive treatment," the Mizdah official added.

Security forces, student protesters clash across Egypt
[Iran Press TV] Egyptian security forces and student protesters have once again clashed at several universities across the country.

Cairo's al-Azhar University became the scene of violent confrontations on Wednesday after students gathered outside the faculty of medicine against police presence on campus.

They also set the office of security personnel ablaze before security forces used tear gas to disperse the crowd.

Protesters then took to nearby streets and blocked off a road, which led to a police chase.

Student protesters at the university's branch in Asyut also set a school bus ablaze and surrounded the general secretariat building.

Student protests have also been reported in Alexandria and Fayoum.

Al-Azhar University has been the scene of festivities between supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi
...the former president of Egypt. A proponent of the One Man, One Vote, One Time principle, Morsi won election after the deposal of Hosni Mubarak and jumped to the conclusion it was his turn to be dictator...
and police since the start of the academic year last August.

A court in Cairo on Wednesday sentenced 10 students and three professors from the university to three years in prison for "illegal protests".

and a security source said.

Brigadier-General Ahmed Zaki was killed in the kaboom in 6th of October City, 32 km (20 miles) from the capital, the state-run Nile news TV station reported.

#1  Say Egypt was the model for the United States...and Generals had EXCLUSIVE Regimental and Divisional Clubs with lots of Buffets and swimming Pools all down Mainstreet. And democracy was a joke which it always has been in Egypt. Egypt LIKES stinky old boots and big mustache just on general principles. Not because they like generals in general ( ignore the pun) but because the Egyptian population being one of the Moslem showpieces for Lysol and flywhisks and Values that have a lot to do with moral Emirs and Muftis and that sort of thing, can't govern themselves with out pulling their pajamas down and mounting a camel.

So you have to expect a few bombs under the Brass as a common occurrence ( just in general ). Amiskeen amiskeen mafeesh faloos.

Boko Haram Ambushes Motorists, Kill Two APC Leaders in Borno
[ALLAFRICA] Suspected gunnies of Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
sect rubbed out the Kala/Balge council chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Modu Janga; and its Youths Leader, Alhaji Abba near Mafa town on the Maiduguri-Dikwa road by 11am Monday.

The APC duo officials were returning to Gudumbali from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, when their vehicle was ambushed near Mafa town.

According to an eyewitness and resident of Mafa, Babagana Usman mafa, said "the gunnies blocked the road with wood and tree branches, before identify occupants of the vehicle and rubbed out two persons at the spot, and fled towards Dikwa, a border town with Cameroon.

"The party chairman along with other passengers in the ambushed vehicle, were first stopped by flagging down the driver for identification, before three gunnies on cycle of violences rubbed out two people at close range; and fled towards Dikwa," Usmani said in a telephone chat Tuesday in Maiduguri.

He said the gunnies did not rob the party officials, as their vehicle was abandoned at the scene of the incident, adding that the road was also closed for two hours by soldiers and coppers prevent further attacks.

On whether other vehicles were ambushed during the attack, he said: "these gunnies could have targeted the APC officials returning to the council area of Kala/Balge, before they were ambushed on that road leading to Gudumbali, the council headquarters."

Our correspondent also learnt that Mafa town was attacked three times this year, destroying several public buildings, vehicles and houses along with people's lives, including three coppers and a soldier.

Council chairman of Kala/Balge, Alhaji Alifa Bukar Rann also yesterday in Maiduguri at the Government House confirmed the incident. He said "two officials of APC were rubbed out near Mafa town while returning to Gudumbali for party official engagements".

When contacted for confirmation over the incident yesterday in Maiduguri, the Borno state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Gideon Jibrin's phone number could not be reached, but a security source who is not authorized to speak on the matter said "armed hoodlums ambushed a vehicle on Dikwa road on Monday; and two people were feared dead, before the security agents closed the road for two hours prevent further attacks".

Even as officials with the state government of Tamaulipas proudly trumpeted their role in a peaceful Semana Santa or Holy Week, seven individuals have been killed in Tamaulipas since Tuesday as shootouts continue in southern regions of the state, according to officials and Mexican news accounts.

A late news release published on the website of Tamaulipas said that seven unidentified individuals were killed in two confrontations in San Fernando municipality Tuesday afternoon.

According to the report, a Mexican naval infantry road patrol came under small arms fire coming from a convoys near the village of Carbajal.

Marine counterfire struck and killed five suspects, and presumably the rest of the occupants in the convoy managed to escape. Marines seized a number of contraband in the aftermath including five rifles, one semiautomatic pistol, a tube grenade launcher, four grenades, 39 weapons magazines, 947 rounds of ammunition and a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV.

A second incident took place at around 1640 hrs in San Fernando proper in Guillermo Guajardo colony on Avenida Division del Norte when a separate Mexican marine road patrol attempted a traffic stop of four men traveling aboard a Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV. Occupants in the vehicle opened fire on the marines. Three of the occupants escaped the scene while the fourth was killed by marine gunfire.

A short distance away, an unidentified man in his 70s was found dead inside his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. According to the official report, another man unidentified in the news account told prosecutors that he had been the driver of the truck, and that the victim had been hit by stray gunfire.

News has emerged in the wake of the end of Semana Santa that shootings and intergang firefights are on the rise in southern Tamaulipas municipalities.

According to a report which appeared in El Manana news daily, several gunfights have taken place since Tuesday in Tampico municipality.

According to the report, as of Wednesday morning official reports have yet to surface as to killed and wounded despite the fact that shootouts continue.

Citing the text of tweets of a local Televisa affiliate, shootouts were reported in Del Pueblo colony which took place Tuesday at 1430 hrs, and on Avenida Universidad at 1530 hrs. No reports were of dead or wounded. The report said the shootouts were simultaneous.

Later reports are of shootouts in Laderas de Vista Bella colony, including detonations of grenades at a residence, and in Cascajal colony, where a Nissan X-terra was immolated.

That evening shootouts were reported in Tampico near the intersection of calles 2 de Enero and Heroes de Chapultepec at around 17:00 hrs, and near the intersection of calles Matienzo y JosĂŠ de Escandon in Zona Centro.

For their part, the state government of Tamaulipas reported a shootout between a Mexican Army road patrol and armed suspects in the southern municipality of Aldama Monday afternoon.

That incident took place at around 1740 hrs, resulting in the capture of four suspects. Contraband seized included five rifles, magazines, ammunition, personal quantities of marijuana, tactical gear, communication equipment and the vehicle.

The same report mentions that a Mexican Army unit located two abandoned vehicles in Santo NiĂąo colony, inside of which were found ammunition, weapons magazines and several incendiary devices, probably Molotov cocktails.

Meanwhile in Reynosa municipality a Mexican Army unit located and seized arms and ammunition in Hacienda Las Fuentes colony Tuesday. According to an official report, soldiers seized 41 rifles, two grenades, 22,334 rounds of ammunition, weapons magazines and tactical gear.

Israel strikes Gaza shortly after Palestinian unity deal

Philippines arrests extremist in Malaysia resort kidnapping
Philippine security forces on Wednesday arrested a Muslim extremist thought to have taken part in the kidnapping of 21 people from a Malaysian resort in 2000.

Nabil Talahi Idjiran, a member of the Abu Sayyaf militant group who took part in a raid on Malaysia's Sipadan island, was arrested in the port city of Zamboanga in Mindanao, said Colonel Andrelino Colina, head of a special anti-terror task force. Colina said, "He was one of the members of the group that kidnapped them (the 21 hostages)."

He added that Idjiran also took turns guarding the hostages who were taken across the sea border to the remote Philippine island of Jolo.

The kidnapping of the 21, mostly Western, holiday-makers was one of the most brazen attacks by the Abu Sayyaf. The hostages endured months of captivity in the jungles of Jolo, about 515 miles south of Manila, until they were ransomed for millions of dollars.

Colina said Idjiran is also thought to have taken part in another attempt to raid a resort in the southern Philippines in May 2001 that was foiled by its security staff.

NPA militants release captive Philippine soldier
The communist New People's Army (NPA) released a soldier, who was held captive for 20 days, to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and peace advocates in southern Mindanao. Sgt. Jeric Bucio Curay was turned over to Duterte and to the members of the Third Party Facilitators who also negotiated for the safe release of the soldier.

Major General Ariel B. Bernardo, commander of the Army's 10th Infantry Division, expressed his gratitude to the city mayor and peace advocates who negotiated for the safe release of the soldier.

Curay was abducted in Barangay Andap in Laak on April 4. He was not armed when he was captured, Bernardo said. He added that Curay's abduction is a violation of the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.

Thai security agency denies being behind death of militant
A Thai security agency yesterday dismissed suspicions raised by the Federation of Patanian Student and Youth (PERMAS) that the April 17 shooting in Yala province, in which suspected terrorist insurgent Mukta Alimama and his young son were killed, had been carried out by government officials. PERMAS had issued the statement on April 19 questioning whether state officials were behind the killings as Mukta was a suspected terrorist insurgent and faced international security warrants

Internal Security Operations Command spokesman Colonel Pramote Phrom-in yesterday responded to PERMAS' statement by saying that the agency intended to arrest those who carried out violent attacks and bring them to justice. He said the agency offered suspected terrorists insurgents and sympathizers a chance to surrender and enter the legal process. He also insisted that officials maintained human rights principles and the rule of law.

In their statement, PERMAS said the decade-long war in the region had claimed many innocent lives and the death of the six-year-old boy was a violation of a legal convention. It also called on the government to allow human-rights organisations, NGOs, civil-society and people's sectors to monitor investigations into incidents in which rights have been violated.

However, Pramote dismissed the claims, saying soldiers were there to provide security for people and their properties. He insisted that the region was not a war zone, adding that those behind violent attacks had to be arrested and punished according to law.

Separately, the motorcycle bombing on Tuesday believed to have targeted two senior clerks at Narathiwat's Chanae District Office might have been carried out by an armed group led by Abdul-harem Jehtu, who was wanted for 10 national security cases, a national security agency source said yesterday. The senior clerks and four village defense volunteers were returning from a school sporting event in an armored pick-up truck when the bomb went off. The truck was slightly damaged, amd a passing motorist sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, as part of an investigation into another shooting attack on Sunday that killed three people, including a two-year-old girl in Yala province, arrest warrants have been issued for two suspects identified as Sameem Samae and Sabri Jehwae.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian Planes Raid Arsal as Rockets Land on Various Bekaa Regions
[An Nahar] A number of rockets landed on Wednesday in the eastern region of the Bekaa as earlier a Syrian warplane raided the outskirts of the northeastern town of Arsal.

One rocket landed between al-Taybeh and Brital regions, reported LBCI television.

OTV meanwhile said that two rockets landed in a field in Brital near the farm of Qassem Mazloum, while Voice of Leb radio (93.3) said a fourth rocket landed in the Ain al-Jawzeh area, also in the Bekaa.

No one was injured in the incidents.

Conflicting reports had emerged over whether the shells were fired from the Syrian side of the border, but the so-called Free Sunnis of Baalbek Brigade later grabbed credit for the attacks.

The Death Eater group has previously claimed many assaults against Shiite towns and the Lebanese army.

Earlier, a Syrian warplane raided the outskirts of of Arsal and several rockets landed on the villages of al-Labweh and al-Nabi Othman, the army said in a communique on Wednesday.

The military said the plane fired three rockets on Arsal's outskirts at 11:45 pm Tuesday .

At 12:20 am, the nearby towns of al-Labweh and al-Nabi Othman were attacked by three rockets from an area in the eastern mountain range, the communique said.

The two attacks did not cause any casualties, it said.

Following the assaults, the army carried out patrols in the targeted areas, the communique added.

The rocket attack on al-Labweh and al-Nabi Othman, two Shiite towns, seems to have come in retaliation to the air raid on Arsal.

The residents of the towns are supporters of Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
, which is fighting alongside troops loyal to Syrian President Assad against the majority Sunni rebels.

Arsal hosts thousands of Syrian refugees. The Sunni town is sympathetic with the rebels.
