Afghanistan
Suicide attack foiled in populated area of Takhar in northeast of Afghanistan
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A deadly suicide kaboom plot to target a populated area of Takhar in northeast of Afghanistan has been thwarted by the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF).

The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
(NDS), said a would-be jacket wallah was jugged
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
in connection to the attack plot by the intelligence operatives.

A statement by NDS said another individual who was helping the would-be bomber to take him to the area of his target was also arrested.

NDS did not elaborate further regarding the exact location which was the possible target of the suicide attack.

The detained would-be bomber has been identified as Mohammad Ayoub who was also famous as Masab who was appointed by commander Tura for the attack, NDS added.

The would-be bomber together with the attack organizer have confessed that they were involved in major attacks on security personnel in Takhar and northern Baghlan province.

One of the suspects says he was injured during a shootout with the security forces and was admitted to Doctors Without Border hospital for treatment.
Of course he was.
The suspect who identifies himself as Habib-ur-Rehman says he was fighting in commandos unit of the turbans to fight the Afghan cops.

The anti-government armed murderous Moslem groups including the Taliban bandidos krazed killers have not commented regarding the report so far.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said at least 32 Lions of Islam were killed and 18 others were maimed during the operations.

A statement by MoD said at least two Lions of Islam were locked away
Please don't kill me!
during the same operation which was conducted in Shahwali Kot district.

MoD in its statement further added that the operations were part of the ongoing clearance raids being conducted by the Afghan forces.

According to MoD, at least 5 Lions of Islam were killed during a separate operation in southeastern Patkika province and 7 more were maimed.

At least 3 Lions of Islam were killed during an operation in Syed Karam district of Paktia and another murderous Moslem was injured, MoD said, adding that 3 more were killed in another operation conducted in Ghormach district of Faryab.

in western Afghanistan, MoD added.

The anti-government armed murderous Moslem groups have not commented regarding the reports so far.

Brothers arrested with explosives for planning terrorist attacks in Jawzjan
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Two brothers have been tossed in the slammer
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
for plotting and coordinated terrorist attacks in northern Jawzjan province of Afghanistan.

The two brothers were arrested from Mengjik district as operations are underway led by Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
to clear the province from bully boyz presence.

General Mohammad Hashim, Security Chief of the Vice President’s Office, said the two suspects had completed their training in Pakistain and were deployed to Jawzjan to plan and coordinate attacks.

He said at least 35 Taliban Lions of Islam were killed during the operations led by Gen. Dostum in the past 2 weeks.

The two bully boyz have confessed that they were working for the Taliban group and they were using the explosives to make Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to carry out attacks in this province.

According to Gen. Hashim, the bully boyz were arrested as Gen. Dostum was visiting the cleared areas from the Taliban presence which includes 200 villages in 7 districts.

He said Gen. Dostum has instructed the security force to establish security posts in the areas where clearance operations have been conducted.

2 Pakistani insurgents arrested with large cache of explosives in Nangarhar
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) have placed in durance vile
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
two Pak turbans with large cache of explosives from the eastern Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province.

According to the security officials, the two bandidos turbans are originally residents of Wazoo and were arrested from the exit gate of Darunta.

The officials further added that the two were looking to plan and coordinate deadly attacks but their plots were foiled with the cooperation of local residents who informed the security forces on time.

The anti-government armed bully boy groups including the Taliban turbans have not commented regarding the report so far.

It is yet not clear where the turbans were looking to carry out attacks.

This comes as the Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since the group announced its summer offensive earlier last month and vowed to carry out more attacks across the country.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Hubba Hubba Club, Nunzio wondered: Where the hell was Chumbaloni? And where was his $600?...
the security officials have said the offensive of the Taliban has been successfully repulsed by the Afghan cops.

The Afghan forces launched a major annual offensive to counter the turbans attacks under the name of Shafaq.

Appropriate: 200 Taliban recruits nabbed from sheep trucks in north of Afghanistan
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Nearly 200 murderous Moslems have been placed in durance vile
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
before joining the Taliban ranks in north of Afghanistan, local security officials in Parwan said.

According to the officials, the murderous Moslems were being transported in large trucks used for the transport of sheep when they were arrested in Salang area.

Senior police officials in Salang said the majority of the murderous Moslems were foreigners and are believed to be Pak nationals.

The official speaking on the condition of anonymity further added that the murderous Moslems were being transported to northern provinces to help the other murderous Moslems fight the Afghan forces.

He said the trucks were identified by the security forces and were stopped in southern part of Salang pass.

This comes as the anti-government armed murderous Moslems have been hardly suppressed during the counter-terrorism operations of the Afghan cops in northern provinces, specifically in northren Kunduz and Baghlan provinces.

The Taliban murderous Moslems launched a major attack to take control of the strategic Kunduz city earlier last month but the offensive was repulsed by the Afghan cops.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shouting match, a new, even louder, voice was to be heard...
the Taliban murderous Moslems suffered heavy casualties during the festivities in Dahana-e-Ghori and Dand-e-Shahabuddin areas of northern Baghlan province earlier this year.

The operations in Baghlan were launched amid concerns that the murderous Moslems of the Taliban group are preparing the spring offensive by creating sanctuaries in this province.

ISIL says it carried out 2nd attack in Somalia
Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), claimed to have carried out an attack on NISA troopers near Mogadishu, 2nd attack in Somalia in two weeks. ISIL said in a statement carried by Amaq News Agency, Islamic state fighters assaulted National intelligence agency (NISA) troops with “light weapons” in Sinkadir area in the outskirts of Mogadishu.

Islamic State didn’t reveal when the attack on NISA took place and any casualties, but the assault becomes the second of its kind in Somalia since the group announced its presence in the horn of Africa country in 2015.

In April 24, ISIL said in a statement that they targeted a convoy of African Union troops (AMISOM) with a landmine at Taredishe area in the outskirts of the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

Tunisia breaks up two Qaeda-linked cells
[AlAhram] Tunisian forces have dismantled two Al-Qaeda-linked cells that had been planning to carry out attacks against shopping malls and political parties, the interior ministry said Thursday.

Nine people were tossed in the slammer
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
during the operation against the cells that had pledged allegiance to the Okba Ibn Nafaa Battalion, a group linked to Al-Qaeda.

The operation took place on an unspecified date in the Kef region, which borders Algeria.

Explosives were seized from one of the cells that had been preparing to attack shopping centres, military and security installations, and politicians or parties, said the ministry.

The second cell of five members had procured financial assistance and sent provisions to a "group of terrorists" holed up in the same mountainous area, it said in a statement.

Tunisia, the cradle of the Arab Spring uprisings, has been plagued by Islamist violence since the 2011 overthrow of longtime dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. In March 2015, myrmidon gunnies killed 21 tourists and a policeman at the National Bardo Museum in Tunis. And in June, 30 Britons were among 38 foreign holidaymakers killed in a gun and grenade attack on a beach resort near the Tunisian city of Sousse.

Jadhran agrees to support LNA attack on Sirte
Tripoli, 5 May 2016:

Central region Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) head Ibrahim Jadhran has agreed to support the Libya National Army (LNA) operation to liberate Sirte from the so-called Islamic State (IS), the Libya Herald was told this evening by one of his officials. The decision follows negotiations in Ras Lanuf with Saiqa Special Forces commander Wanis Bukhamada.

Bukhamada and Saiqa arrived earlier in the day in the oil terminal town, 60 kilometres east of Ben Jawad, itself the eastern front line for IS forces based in Sirte.

A number of LNA aircraft are also now said to be based at Ras Lanuf airport ahead of the offensive.

Under the agreement between Jadhran and Bukhamada, the PFG would be put at the LNA’s disposal, the official said.

As part of a two-pronged operation to move on Sirte from both the east and the south, LNA forces are also now in Zillah and Marada, some 140 kilometres south of Ras Lanuf. However, it is separately reported that the prime objective there is to secure the oilfields.

Jadhran has previously been a bitter opponent of General Khalifa Hafter, the head of the LNA, and there had been fears of clashes between the PFG and the LNA as the latter moved towards Sirte.

It is reported that Bukhamada, who is highly regarded throughout the east of the country, was sent to Jadhran specifically to prevent such an outcome.

Bukhamada earlier had talks with Salah Al-Ataiwish, the head of the Magharba tribe of which Jadhran is himself a member. Ataiwish had already come out in favour of the LNA offensive to liberate Sirte, saying it had to be supported. In today’s talks, he reportedly confirmed that position and, in doing so, added to the pressure on Jadhran to come to terms with the LNA.

Underpinning the new position, a Magharba delegation in Benghazi separately had talks today with boycotting Presidency Council member Ali Gatrani in which they also affirmed their support for the LNA.

It is not clear if Jadhran, who was slightly injured in fighting IS last month near Brega, has been reinstated as head of the central region PFG. A supporter of the Libyan Political Agreement and the Presidency Council led by Faiez Serraj, he was recently sacked by both the Thinni government and then by the Hafter, although he and the PFG ignored this.

Today’s development will come as something of a blow to the Presidency Council which last week ordered all military forces to hold back on attacking Sirte pending the appointment of a new commander of all Libya’s armed forces. Misratan forces, which were reported to be planning a separate effort to liberate Sirte said they would abide by the order.

Troops Intercept 5 Boko Haram’s Libido Boosting Merchants -- Army
[LEADERSHIP.NG] Five notorious Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
logistics suppliers who specialised in sneaking sex enhancement and other related substances to their colleagues have been intercepted by troops of the Nigerian Army while trying to convey a large number of hard drugs, including Viagra, to yet unascertained destinations, officials said.

The suspects, who disguised themselves as local villagers on legitimate movement, usually rode on donkeys.

Luck deserted them when they ran into troops of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday on their way to supply large quantities of drugs to their colleagues.

Spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, said three of them were killed while trying to escape.

"Today at about 9.25am, troops of 120 Task Force Battalion, 27 Task Force Brigade, in conjunction with vigilantes, while on patrol intercepted five Boko Haram Death Eaters logistics team at Gotumba area trying to move logistics items to suspected Boko Haram hideouts at Aluwa, using five donkeys.

"The terrorists, on sighting the patrol team, ran and abandoned the items. However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
the team pursued and killed three of them, while two escaped with gunshot wounds.

"Items recovered from them include 3 packets of Tramol, 2 packets of Lamumol, 7 packets of Really Extra, 2 packets of Viagra®, 2 packets of Viagra® and 14 of washing soap.
...soap being the most potent item on the list...
Other items include 4 rolls of Klin Detergent, 2 packets of razor blade and 14 packets of Maggi, half-bag of table salt, 5 bicycle tyres and tubes,
...useful for making escapes, I suppose, but not nearly as terrifying as white Toyota trucks when raiding. How have the mighty fallen!
as well as 2 quick patch for tubes, one roll of matches and 10 pairs of rubber shoes.
At the beginning of the article I had pictured giant panniers overflowing with pills, but this is just sad.

Niger Delta Avengers blow up Chevron facilities
[DAILYPOST.NG] Niger Delta bandidos bully boyz have blown up the Chevron Valve Platform in Abiteye, Warri North council area of Delta State.

An official of the Department of State Services (DSS), told Vanguard that the company was completely annihilated by the new militia group.

The source further said that the platform is a main connecting point where all other installations link up and serve as a pivot to chevron BOP and the Chevron Tank farm, thereby halting all operations of the company in the region.

The Niger Delta Avengers, which grabbed credit for the incident in a statement, noted that onslaught on the facility was in line with its pledge to the Nigerian government to cripple the economy.

The group also threatened to attack oil installations in Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

"We want to pass this message to the all international oil companies operating in the Niger Delta that the Nigeria Military can’t protect their facilities. They should talk to the federal government to meet our demands else more mishaps will befall their installations," it warned.

gunnies in Borno.

The troops are involved in the clearance and rescue operations in Sambisa forest nicknamed "Operation CRACKDOWN".

Col. Sani Usman, Army front man, said the gunnies came in 5 Toyota Hilux vehicles mounted with Anti-Aircraft guns which they fired along with 81mm mortar.

Troops immediately returned fire and pursued the gunnies that withdrew in disarray towards the river line of Izza-Mainyakare axis, he stated.

"The attack lasted for about 40 minutes without any casualty on our troops while a number of Boko Haram bad boyz were potted, " Usman said.

The troops, however, recovered an 81mm mortar tube from the terrorists.

Arabia
4 dead in raid on 'terror' cell near Makkah, says Saudi ministry
[DAWN] Saudi police rubbed out two suspected gunnies and two others blew themselves up during a raid near the holy city of Makkah on Thursday, the interior ministry said.

"The gunnies started shooting towards security, which they responded to", leading to the deaths of a pair of suspects while the others "did away with himself by blowing themselves up with suicide belts", the ministry's front man said in a statement.

Police had surrounded the suspects' hideout between the holy city of Makkah and Taif on Thursday morning when the shootout occurred.

A simultaneous raid occurred on a hideout in the Red Sea city of Jeddah, where two people were tossed in the slammer

, "and they are being investigated for their involvement in this cell", the front man said. He added that the raids were part of surveillance and followup, "including to what happened in Bisha on Friday".

At that time, two suspects died in a shootout with security forces who foiled a boom-mobileing in Bisha, southwestern Aseer region.

A third suspect, Iqab Mujab al-Otaibi, fled but was later arrested wearing an explosives belt, the ministry announced last Sunday.

According to the ministry, Otaibi allegedly took part in a deadly shooting at a Shia mosque in 2014 and a bombing that targeted security forces at a mosque in Aseer last year.

Both attacks were among several bombings and shootings claimed by the self-styled Islamic State

Aawsat adds:
Saudi Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency late Friday that security forces tried to stop two cars but the drivers fled and took refuge in nearby mountains before one of the cars exploded.

Al-Turki said the two continued firing at security forces, but were eventually killed with the help of a helicopter gunship.
And from Khaleej Times:
State-owned Al Arabiya TV re-ported that the security forces surrounded the group in the Wadi No-man area south of the city, showing images of police trucks mounted with machine guns around a walled compound. No civilians or security forces were killed or wounded, the ministry said.

Bangladesh
Bangladesh JI leader set to hang for war crimes
[DAWN] Bangladesh's Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the death sentence of top religious party leader Motiur Rahman Nizami
...During the liberation war of 1971, Nizami formed the Al-Badr Force and acted as its supreme commander. The Al-Badr militia took active part in rape, extortion, looting and killing of Bangladeshis who supported the liberation, including a pre-planned massacre on December 14, 1971, when the Al-Badr militia along with Pakistan Army rounded up hundreds of doctors, professors, writers, and other Bengali intellectuals, and executed them...
for war crimes, paving the way for his execution within days.

Nizami, head of Bangladesh's biggest religious party Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
, was convicted of murder, rape and orchestrating the killing of intellectuals during the country's 1971 independence struggle.

"We're satisfied. Now there is no bar to execute him unless he seeks clemency from the president and the president pardons him," Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told AFP after the Supreme Court dismissed Nizami's final appeal.

Clemency has never been granted to a convicted war criminal in Bangladesh, and the 73-year-old is likely to be hanged within days.

Security has been stepped up in Dhaka, already tense after a string of killings of secular and liberal activists and religious minorities by suspected Islamist Lion of Islams.

In 2013 the convictions of Jamaat officials triggered the country's deadliest violence in decades, with around 500 people killed.

Nizami took over as leader of Jamaat in 2000 and was a minister in the Islamist-allied government of 2001-2006.

Prosecutors said he was responsible for setting up the Al-Badr pro-Pak militia, which killed top writers, doctors and journalists in the most gruesome chapter of the 1971 conflict.

Their bodies were found blindfolded with their hands tied and dumped in a marsh on the outskirts of the capital.

Prosecutors said Nizami ordered the killings, designed to "intellectually cripple" the fledgling nation.

He was convicted in October 2014 by the International Crimes Tribunal, which was established in 2010 by Prime Minister the loathesome Sheikh Hasina

Colonist Smugglers Injured in Cross-Border French Police Chase
[AnNahar] A car chase between Belgian police and suspected people smugglers on Thursday left several injured in a morning of chaos on a northern French motorway, official sources said.

At least three road accidents, one of them fatal, were reported on the A16 motorway near Dunkirk and Calais on the northern French coast -- jumping-off points for many migrants colonists and refugees trying to reach Britannia.

The first was a minor crash around 0540 (0340 GMT) in which no one was badly injured.

But shortly afterwards, a police chase reached the scene and led to a more serious accident.

Four people had fled across the nearby Belgian border after police tried to check their car at a parking area known to be used by smugglers.

Officials did not confirm local media reports that shots had been fired by police before the crash.

All four people in the suspect car were maimed in the crash, two of them seriously. Police said they were foreigners, but gave no more details. The Dunkirk prosecutor said one had identified himself as Iraqi.

The prosecutor said police had been alerted by drivers after the men were seen trying to smuggle people aboard lorries in the parking area.

"They fit the classic profile of smugglers," the prosecutor said.

As traffic backed up along the motorway, yet another accident was reported shortly afterwards, and local authorities said a motorcyclist had been killed after colliding with a heavy goods lorry.
Update at noon ET from An Nahar:
'People Smugglers' in France Police Chase are Iraqi Kurds

Four suspected people smugglers whose car was involved in a collision with a lorry after a high-speed police chase in northern La Belle France are Iraqi Kurds, prosecutors said Friday.

The British-registered Audi had crossed into La Belle France from Belgium on Thursday after police tried to check their vehicle at a parking area known to be used by smugglers.

Two of the four people were maimed by police gunfire and two others were hurt in the accident on Thursday. All four were still being treated in hospital on Friday, prosecutors said. One of the suspects who suffered gunshot wounds is in a serious condition.

Turkey returns ISIS artillery fire
Turkish artillery fired into ISIS-held territory in Syria on Thursday, killing four militants, in retaliation to cross-border rockets that left several Turks wounded, security sources and media said.

A salvo of rockets fired by ISIS from Syria struck a residential area of the town of Kilis earlier in the day, its mayor, Hasan Kara, said.

The private Dogan News agency said one policeman was among the wounded and broadcast images of damaged buildings and vehicles.

The Turkish armed forces fired howitzers at two targets on the Syrian side, Dogan said, citing the military.

Kilis, which stands on the border in southern Turkey and is home to a significant Syrian refugee population, has been repeatedly targeted by ISIS barrages which have killed around 20 people and injured scores since the start of the year.

NATO member Turkey is part of the U.S.-led coalition fighting ISIS. It has routinely returned fire, destroying gun positions and killing 370 jihadists, the state-run Anadolu Agency said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned ISIS on Wednesday that no attack on Turkey would go unanswered.

Three suspects, LEA official killed in clash near Taxila
[DAWN] TAXILA: Two men and a woman belonging to a banned sectarian organization and a member of a law enforcement agency were killed in a clash in Pind Ghakhara village, about 6km from here, on Wednesday.

Police sources said that acting on a tip-off that some suspects were hiding in the village, a joint team of the law enforcement agency and the counterterrorism department raided a house, but suspects opened fire on them.

Police retaliated and rubbed out the suspects -- Javaid, his wife Naheeda Bibi and son Ahmed -- and took into custody another suspect Mohammed Usman.

One law enforcement official, identified as Sarfaraz, lost his life, while two other people, including a security man, were maimed in the clash.

Later, police and law enforcement agencies launched a search operation in the area.

When contacted, police Inspector Basheer Khan said the dear departed were under watch because they were believed to be associated with a banned outfit.

He said Javiad’s brother Sadeeq Khan, who is UC Nazim, was put under Fourth Schedule of the anti-terror law due to his alleged links with the banned religious organization.

Javaid, son of Abdul Ghani, worked in a government organization in Taxila and according to reports he had visited Afghanistan twice.

Mr Khan said one Kalashnikov and a pistol were found at the house.

Police started the paperwork but haven't done much else under Sections 302, 324 and 34 of the Pakistain Penal Code and the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Australia says most dangerous Australian ISIS operative killed
[Ynet] Australia's most dangerous known Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
movement operative had been killed in a US Arclight airstrike in Iraq, the government said Thursday.

The United States had confirmed that Neil Prakash, also known as Abu Khaled al-Cambodi, was killed in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
on Friday, Attorney-General George Brandis said.

The 24-year-old Australian citizen of Cambodian and Fijian heritage converted from Buddhism in 2012 and traveled to Syria a year later.

The former rapper from Melbourne city featured in Islamic State recruitment videos, was linked to several attack plans in Australia and had urged lone wolf attacks against the United States.

"Prakash was a very important, high-value target," Brandis told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio. "He was the most dangerous Australian involved with ISIS in the Middle East," Brandis added, referring to the faceless myrmidons as Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
... the current version of al-Qaeda in Iraq, just as blood-thirsty and well-beloved as the original...

An Nahar adds:
Attorney General George Brandis said Washington had told Canberra that Prakash died in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, Iraq, on April 29 after Australia provided intelligence on his identity and location.

Prakash was linked to an alleged terror plot on Anzac Day last year, when Australia honors its war dead.

Since the start of their campaign, the U.S. military and its coalition partners have launched more than 12,000 air strikes against Islamic State and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said more Australians were in their sights.

U.S. authorities also told the government that Australian woman Shadi Jabar Khalil Mohammad was killed in an air strike near the Syrian city of Al-Bab on April 22, along with her Sudanese husband.

"Mohammad and her husband, Abu Sa'ad al-Sudani, were both active recruiters of imported muscle on behalf of ISIS, and had been inspiring attacks against Western interests," said Brandis.

She was the sister of Farhad Jabar, a 15-year-old who rubbed out police employee Curtis Cheng in Sydney last October. The teenager was killed in gunfire shortly afterwards.

Brandis said that between 50 and 59 Australians had so far been killed fighting for jihadists in Iraq or Syria. At least 110 more are still battling with Islamic State.

US-led coalition spokesman: ISIS suffering setback
Funny way of spelling whack a mole
[ARA News] QAMISHLO – Colonel Steve Warren, the US-led coalition’s Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman, said the recent attacks by militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) against the Kurdish Peshmerga front lines in northern Iraq last Tuesday that also killed one US serviceman, was to gain attention after suffering “several defeats in a row”.

“This enemy [ISIS] has been getting slapped around now by both the CTS, the Iraqi security forces and the Peshmerga for weeks,” Colonel Warren told a press conference on Wednesday. “They’re being pressured, their noses have been bloodied and they’ve continued to become battered around Makhmur. They were out of Bashir [village] by the Peshmerga,” he added.

“It’s an area [Bashir] that they used to launch indirect fire attacks against Kirkuk, it’s an area that they used to launch chemical weapons attacks against Taza that killed three children several months ago and the Peshmerga came in and took it away from them, unceremoniously took it away from them in a relatively quick fight. It took about 24 hours,” he said.

“This enemy has suffered a string of recent defeats. They were kicked out of Hiit, they’ve been cleared out of the roadway between Hiit and Dulab, they’re being pressured into Dulab,” Warren stated.

“So this enemy has suffered a string of defeats recently, and one of the things that we’ve noticed that what ISIL [ISIS] likes to do is when they have suffered several defeats in a row, when they’re back on their heels, often they will try one of these more high-profile, high-visibility attacks in an effort to gain some attention,” he said.

“This enemy wanted to stage a relatively high-profile, high-visibility attack that would distract peoples’ attention away from the beatdown that they’ve been taking everywhere else. Luckily for us, it won’t work,” he said, suggesting that ISIS is on the back foot, and that the latest attacks have no “lasting operational value to this enemy”.

The US-led coalition spokesperson also referred to the ISIS-led complex attack on December 16, 2015, near the town of Tal Aswad against Kurdish Peshmerga forces, that included hundreds of ISIS fighters and several VBIEDs.

“It was, we believe, in reaction to the fact that they were in the process of losing Ramadi. What this enemy likes to do is when they’re — when they’re taking a beatdown, they like to try and stage some noticeable event that would distract the press, particularly the Western press who are very vulnerable to distraction in their view,” he stated.

Moreover, Warren said that when ISIS suffers setbacks, it carries out attacks on civilians in other parts of the world. In November, when the Kurdish forces took Sinjar, the ISIS operatives attacked Paris.

“We also know that when this enemy is on its heels, when it’s suffered several setbacks, they’re likely to try and lash out, you know, through terror attacks, perhaps in Baghdad, perhaps elsewhere in Syria, perhaps elsewhere in the world,” the coalition spokesperson added.

Israel arrested Hamas tunnel expert, second Hamas tunnel found
[IsraelTimes] Mahmoud Atawnah, nabbed last month, provided trove of info on Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, tunnel activities, including routes, use of private homes

Israeli authorities incarcerated
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
a Hamas member last month who provided a trove of information about the Gazoo-based terror group’s tunnel activities, the Shin Bet security agency revealed on Thursday.

Mahmoud Atawnah, 29, from the city of Jabalia in the Paleostinian enclave, was arrested at the beginning of April after crossing the border fence into Israel armed with two knives, the Shin Bet said in a statement, adding that he disclosed during interrogation that he intended to kill the first Israeli -- soldier or civilian -- he encountered.

As a member of Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Atawnah provided the Shin Bet with information on tunnel routes in northern Gazoo, the group’s use of private homes and institutions to hide tunnel entries and transfer weapons, and details about the materials Hamas uses in excavations.

The security agency further said Atawneh described a sophisticated network of tunnels which includes break rooms, showers and dining tables, and divulged a number of names of Hamas members who fought alongside him in the northern branch of the eastern brigade in Hamas’s armed wing.

Atawneh also housed a large stash of weapons in his home in Jabalia, in particular IEDs, rifles and suicide belts meant for distribution ahead of an operation.

The Shin Bet said Thursday that Atawneh was one of a number of Hamas members currently being interrogated by the security agency.

An indictment was filed against Atawneh in the Beer Sheba District Court.

Second Hamas tunnel found
News of the arrest came hours after the Israeli military announced it found a second tunnel in as many months emerging from southern Gazoo into Israeli territory.

The tunnel, which is slated to be destroyed in the coming days, is 28 meters deep and was located just a few kilometers from where another tunnel was located and destroyed last month, the army said.

The exact location of both tunnels has been kept under wraps by the IDF censor.

The revelation of the second tunnel came amid a series of cross-border exchanges this week.

Israeli troops who were fired upon in several separate incidents since Tuesday were working to uncover the tunnel and other cross-border passageways, the army confirmed in a statement.

"The IDF considers above and below-ground terror activity a violation of the State of Israel’s illusory sovereignty and a threat to its citizens and deems Hamas solely responsible," a spokesperson said. "It is our job to locate and destroy them."

While the tunnel was found about 100 meters inside Gazoo, it extended into Israel, a spokesperson said, though he did not detail how far into Israeli territory it went.

He added the tunnel was found using a combination of technology, intelligence and engineering.

The statement was the first Israeli confirmation that troops had been operating on the Gazook side of the border fence.
Ynet has more about the tunnel, including pictures, and adds:
According to a senior Southern Command official, Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, employs 800 tunnel diggers who enjoy high salaries compared to other operatives in the organization, and Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades chief, Mohammed Deif, considers the tunnels a flagship project highlighting the strengthening of the organization's military wing.

IDF artillery and IAF fire on Hamas sites in Gaza
It's been a busy couple of days along the Gaza border.
[IsraelTimes] Mortar volley on IDF positions since Tuesday sparks return fire by IDF tanks, aircraft; Paleostinian woman killed Thursday

Paleostinian media reported early Friday that IDF artillery had begun shelling sites in the southern Gazoo Strip.

The army has been targeting Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, installations in the coastal territory following a spate of some 20 mortar attacks from Gazoo that began Tuesday and targeted IDF troops on the border fence between Gazoo and Israel.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the latest barrage. The IDF did not immediately confirm the reports.

On Thursday, a Paleostinian woman was killed when Israeli tank shells hit her home east of Khan Younis in the southern Gazoo Strip, the southern city’s Nasser hospital said. The woman was identified by the hospital as Zeina al-Amour, 54. The Hamas-affiliated Paleostinian news agency Shehab posted photos on Facebook from the aftermath of the tank fire.

Paleostinian media also reported that a number of people were maimed in a series of Israeli Arclight airstrikes in the area of Rafah on Thursday, also in the southern Gazoo Strip.

The Israeli Air Force confirmed its aircraft hit four military posts belonging to Hamas, the de facto rulers of the Paleostinian enclave, Thursday afternoon.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an emergency meeting of the security cabinet Thursday evening to discuss the escalation in violence along Israel’s southern border.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon warned Hamas that Israel would not tolerate any attempts to disrupt the lives of its citizens.

"Terrorist elements in the Gazoo Strip need to know that if they try to disrupt our lives, they will delivered a severe blow," he said at a service to mark the end of Holocaust Remembrance Day. "We will not tolerate a return to a routine of shooting and attempts to harm our civilians and soldiers. We will take firm action with an iron fist, as we have in the past few days, against the terrorist organizations in the Strip, led by Hamas, which is responsible for the shooting and incidents in Gazoo."

Singapore Detains 8 Bangladeshis for Alleged IS-Related Terror Plot
[AnNahar] Singapore said Tuesday it had placed in durance vile
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
eight Bangladeshi men who allegedly plotted to carry out terror attacks and liquidations in their home country to establish an Islamic state.

The migrant workers were arrested in April under Singapore's Internal Security Act which allows for detention without trial, the home ministry said in a statement.

Items seized from them included manuals on bomb-making and how to use a 0.50 caliber sniper rifle, plus a list of Bangladesh government and military officials targeted for attack, it said.

The ministry said the men were members of a clandestine group set up in Singapore in March by 31 year-old Rahman Mizanur, who called the group "Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
in Bangladesh"(ISB).

They had initially planned to go to Syria to join the Islamic State (IS) group but decided to return to their homeland.

"As they felt that it would be difficult for them to make their way to Syria, they focused their plans instead on returning to Bangladesh to overthrow the democratically-elected government through the use of force, establish an Islamic State in Bangladesh and bring it under (Islamic State's) self-declared caliphate," the ministry said.

It added that five other Bangladeshi men had been investigated but not found to be involved in ISB. They nevertheless possessed jihadi-related material and been repatriated to Bangladesh, the statement said.

Bangladesh police said they arrested five suspected Islamist snuffies on Tuesday who had been deported from Singapore, after being alerted to their alleged krazed killer activities by authorities in the city-state.

There is growing concern over an increase in attacks on minorities in Muslim-majority Bangladesh.

Suspected Islamists have murdered at least 30 members of religious minorities, secular bloggers and other liberal activists, foreigners and intellectuals in the country in the past three years.

Two gay activists were hacked to death last week in attacks claimed by a Bangladeshi branch of Al-Qaeda, while a liberal English professor was killed days earlier, a murder claimed by the IS group.

Bangladesh police also said Tuesday they were investigating a new hit-list from a group called the Islami Liberation Front, which includes the head of a university, journalists and ruling party officials.

Singapore is heavily dependent on foreign labor and employs 1.15 million overseas workers out of a total population of 5.6 million.

Officials say the nation -- a close military partner of Washington -- is a prime target for Islamic hard boys.

Singapore says it foiled an attempt by snuffies in late 2001 to carry out kabooms on US and other foreign targets in the country.

According to the home ministry, the ISB group planned to recruit more Bangladeshi workers in Singapore and raised money to buy weapons for use in Bangladesh. The money has been seized, the ministry said.

The group's leader also told Sherlocks that he would carry out attacks anywhere in the world if instructed to do so by IS, but the ministry said there were no specific indications Singapore was a target.

Abu Sayyaf threatens to behead three more captives
[IANS] Abu Sayyaf released a video on Wednesday threatening to behead three more hostages, who were kidnapped along with John Ridsdel, who was killed on April 25. On the video, the masked militant said in English, "The lesson is clear. John Ridsdel has been beheaded. Now there are three remaining captives here. If you procrastinate once again on the negotiations, we will behead this all anytime."

Meanwhile, the three hostages, who were abducted by the rebels along with Ridsdel on September 21, 2015, also made pleas to Canada and Philippines.

Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad said, "I'm appealing to the Canadian government, the Filipino government, friends, family, anybody who can possibly help us, that if the demand is not met we will be executed like our friend John was a few days ago."

In the video, Canadian Robert Hall also urged Philippine security forces, which launched an offensive against Abu Sayyaf after Ridsdel's killing, to stop shooting for fear they might be killed in the attacks. He said, "To the Canadian government, I’m told to tell you to meet the demand. I don’t know what you’re doing, but you’re not doing anything for us. John has been sacrificed, his family has been decimated, and I’m not sure why or what you’re waiting for."

Speaking for the first time, the Filipina, Marita Flores asks Philippine President Aquino and several other presidential candidates and renowned personalities, including the boxer Manny Pacquiao, to help them.

Abu Sayyaf had demanded ransom of around $6.4 million for each of the three Western hostages before April 25 and a few hours after the expiration of the deadline, the group beheaded Ridsdel and left his severed head in a bag in Jolo town in Sulu province.

Reds release three soldiers, militiaman in Mindanao
[Inquirer] Maoist militants released three Philippine soldiers and a militiaman from captivity and turned them over to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and other city officials in a ceremony in a remote village of San Luis, Agusan del Sur on Tuesday.

Two of the government troopers, Pfc. Diven Tawide and Pfc. Glenn Austria were separately taken at road checkpoints set by the New People’s Army in San Luis and Talacugon on April 3.

The decision to also free Cpl. Jawad Awadi and militiaman Roy Perez was reached at the last minute during the handover program, according to NPA official Ka Omar Ibarra. They were caught in civilian clothes earlier that morning by the militants who were securing the vicinity of the venue in Barangay Balit.

Ibarra blasted the Philippine military for not presenting to the public one of its NPA leaders, identified as Ricardo Manili, alias Ka Joker, and six other civilians who were seized at a military checkpoint in Esperanza. Ka Joker, who was supposed to lead the turnover ceremony, was arrested in the area still covered by the agreement on suspension of military operation to pave the way for the smooth release of the NPA "prisoners of war," Ibarra said.

Double bombing injures four civilians in Yala
[The Nation] Two spontaneous bomb attacks near a market in Yala province yesterday morning slightly injured four civilians in what police think was an attempt by militants to create chaos in the region. The double blasts took place ten minutes apart from each other; left three women and a boy wounded; and damaged a grocery shop, a pickup truck and a motorcycle.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan yesterday dismissed rumors that an unofficial meeting between Thai negotiators and MARA Patani representatives in Kuala Lumpur had failed to make any progress. It was reported that the Thai government wanted to set up cease-fire zones while MARA Patani wanted to ink written documents before further talks. Prawit said there was no disagreement and expressed confidence that the peace talks would continue uninterrupted.

MARA Patani is a forum of six long-standing insurgent groups who claim to represent Malay Muslims living in the far South.

Meanwhile, the body of slain marine Jittapol Renu na Ayutthaya was flown to Sattahip Naval Base after a ceremony yesterday in Narathiwat's province. His body would be returned to his hometown later.

Jittapol, a nephew of Narathiwat Special Task Force deputy chief Colonel Worachit Satsilpa, was killed when a roadside bomb went off in Tak Bai district on Monday night. He was leading an eight-man patrol when a villager alerted them about suspects drilling something. When they went to inspect the site, a hidden bomb went off, causing fatal injuries.

ISIS militants launch major offensive against Syrian army in Homs
What does ISIS call it when 2 tanks and a rifle squad shows up on the front lines?
An offensive!

HOMS – Militant fighters of the Islamic State (ISIS) carried out a surprise attack on positions for the pro-regime forces in Syria’s central province of Homs. At least 18 Syrian soldiers were killed in the ISIS-led attack on regime headquarters near al-Bared district in the eastern suburbs of Homs on Thursday.

Local activists confirmed that the ISIS radical group was able to make gains in eastern Homs despite airstrikes by the pro-regime warplanes.

Speaking to ARA News in Homs, media activist Muhannad Ibrahim said that ISIS militants launched a surprise attack on two posts for the regime’s army forces in al-Bared area and were able to kill 18 soldiers after clashes that lasted for an hour on Thursday evening.

“ISIS was able to take over a number of posts in the vicinity of Al-Qaryatayn town southeast of Homs after clashes with Assad’s army forces,” Muhannad reported.

The source pointed out that ISIS insurgents were able to destroy an armored personnel carrier after targeting it with a thermal anti-armor missile, beside seizing a truck loaded with light and medium weapons along with a big deal of ammunition.

In the meantime, pro-regime warplanes conducted more than 16 raids in the vicinity of Al-Qaryatayn town where fighting continues between the two sides, according to informed local sources.

Media activist J.S. told ARA News that the pro-regime forces have fortified several positions in the areas surrounding al-Bared town in a bid to launch a major anti-ISIS military operation in eastern Homs province.

“Pro-regime army forces have pounded the ISIS-held town of al-Bared with heavy weapons on Thursday midnight,” a Syrian military source told ARA News, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The areas located eastern Al-Qaryatayn town have been witnessing heavy bombardment with artillery and airstrikes by the regime’s army since Wednesday midnight. Subsequent to the army’s withdrawal from Al-Qaryatayn, ISIS took al-Bared as a major bastion for launching its military operations in the eastern suburbs of Homs in central Syria.

ISIS executes yute in Raqqa
ERBIL – Militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) executed a kid in Syria’s northeastern city of Raqqa, rights activists and eyewitnesses reported on Thursday. ISIS has reportedly executed the child in the Naeem Square in the city of Raqqa, the main bastion of ISIS in Syria.

Speaking to ARA News in Raqqa, rights activist S.Y. said that ISIS terrorists have executed a 7-year-old child on Thursday in Syria’s eastern city of Raqqa on charges of ‘insulting divinity’.

“Islamic State’s police arrested the Muaz Hassan earlier this week in the city of Raqqa, after they heard him ‘cursing divinity’, while playing in the street with his friends,” the source quoted an ISIS member of Islamic Court as saying. “The act was considered an insult to the Caliphate, regardless of the age of the boy.”

An ISIS member of the Sharia Court read a statement before conducting the execution, explaining the reasons for his execution, eyewitnesses told ARA News.

The ISIS-led Sharia Court sentenced the victim to death on charges of ‘infidelity’, in a move contrary to every legitimate principle which says children are not held accountable for their acts, according to human rights activists.

The Hisba police force shot him dead on Thursday afternoon in the Naeem Square in front of hundreds of people, including the child’s parents, who collapsed after the execution of their child, according to eyewitness.

Last Thursday, ISIS executed two young men in the city of Manbij in Syria’s northern province of Aleppo on charges of spying to the US-led coalition, local sources reported.

Over the past two years, ISIS has publicly executed hundreds of civilians, activists, and journalists on various charges in areas under its control across Syria and Iraq.

However, it is the first time the extremist group executes a child in a blatant violation for Islamic law itself, according to observers.

Deadly airstrike hits refugee camp in northern Syria
Airstrikes on a refugee camp housing Syrians uprooted by war killed 28 people near the Turkish border on Thursday, a UK-based monitoring group said, according to Guardian.
No one bothers to say who did the bombing. Syrians? Russians? Ruritanians?
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the dead included women and children, and that the toll from the strikes, which hit a camp for internally displaced people near the town of Sarmada, was likely to rise.

Sarmada lies about 20 miles (30km) west of of Aleppo, where a cessation of hostilities brokered by Russia and the US brought a measure of relief on Thursday. But fighting continued nearby and President Bashar al-Assad said he still sought total victory over rebels in Syria.

Syrian state media said the army would abide by a "regime of calm" in the city that came into effect at 1am (22:00 GMT on Wednesday) for 48 hours, after two weeks of death and destruction.
