Jalrez Situation Virtually Under Control as Forces Retake Posts
[Tolo News] The situation in the unsafe Jalrez district virtually came under control after the security forces secured control of all nine police posts that had fallen to the Taliban.

The gunnies were pushed back from the district after the reinforcement forces launched the operation. However fighting is still underway in parts of the district, officials said.

The fighting in Jalrez district in central Maidan Wardak broke out late Thursday after a number of armed gunnies stormed the district, capturing all nine police posts.

According to the provincial media office, 24 police and 40 Death Eaters were killed during the last three days.

Another two coppers and 18 gunnies were maimed in the festivities, the office added.

"Where there are trees, there are enemies," a police solider said who took part in the operation. "They [insurgents] are using light and heavy weapons including rockets and RPGs."

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats grabbed for his rosco...
the provincial public relations director Abdul Wali Noorzai said gunnies from Pakistain's tribal areas of Wazoo had also joined the local Taliban fighters in Jalrez fighting.

"Waziristani fighters had also accompanied the local Taliban," Noorzai said, noting that these Death Eaters could not confront the Afghan forces.

After the situation virtually came under control, the Interior Minister Noor-ul-Haq Olomi and the Army Chief Gen. Qadam Shah Shaheem visited Jalrez where they promised the locals to avenge the brutal Jalrez killings.

During a meeting with the provincial governor, police chief and other local government officials, Olomi ordered launch of a massive anti-insurgent operation throughout the province.

Reports suggest many corpses of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) members were desecrated by the Taliban.

Doctors Without Borders Claim Hospital Raided By Afghanistan Troops
[ALMANAR.LB] An Afghanistan hospital of the international medical aid group Doctors Without Borders was raided by government troops who fired weapons in the air, threatened and assaulted several staff members, the group said on Friday.

The group condemned the "violent intrusion," in which troops raided the facility on Wednesday and nabbed

three patients who were being treated there, calling it a breach of the Geneva Conventions.

Following the attack, Doctors Without Borders said that they temporarily suspended work at the Kunduz facility in the country's northeast.

"This serious event puts at risk the lives of thousands of people who rely on the center for urgent care," Dr. Bart Janssens, the organization's director of operations, said in a statement. "We are shocked by this incident."

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
Colonel Nader, the local army brigade commander, said he did not believe the army was behind the incident. "Afghan National Army Special Forces have neither raided any hospital nor arrested anyone whatsoever," he said, according to the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
. "We completely deny that Afghan National Army had any involvement at all."

Fierce fighting in Benghazi as LNA fights off bid by militants to retake Buhdeima
[Libya Herald] At least four soldiers were killed, as well as a civilian, in fighting and missile attacks in Benghazi's Buhdeima district yesterday.

The fighting started when murderous Moslems from the Benghazi Revolutionaries' Shoura Council (BRSC) attacked the military police base in the district in what appears to have been a coordinated attempt to retake the entire district. As well as the four killed in the fighting, 19 were maimed.

The fighting in also involved air strikes by the LNA and missiles launched by BRSC, the latter hitting a number of homes. At least one civilian was reported killed in as a result such missile hits.

A missile also hit a car in the district, critically injuring 10-year Mohammed Al-Shaibi. He was taken to Bengahzi Medical Centre.

According to Libya National Army (LNA) sources, a number of attackers were also killed but numbers are unknown: their bodies were removed by their colleagues when the BRSC pulled back from Budheima.

Meanwhile,
...back at the bunker, his Excellency called the chief of staff and complained that the artillery was keeping him awake...
three other soldiers were killed and four maimed in what appears to have been a booby-trap kaboom, when they entered house in Buatni, reportedly full of mines. They have been named as Mohammed Ramadan, Badr Yacoub and Ali Faiz.

Buhdeima has had one small piece of brighter news, however. On 25 June, Nureddine Al-Iskandarani, from Hadaiq was killed in the Buhdeima. He had been invited to a friend's home there for the Iftar meal. During it there was an kaboom nearby. He went out to check his car but was then killed when missiles landed.

Yesterday, his widow gave birth to a baby girl. She has been named Noor after her father.

#3  From what my Libyan friends have told me about the revolution, the US was up to its neck in the revolution. Far more deeply than the administration admitted. We had SO folks running around Tripoli painting targets and snipers popping Qaddafi mercenaries. That and the fact we bombed the piss out of everything Moamar had. The amount of destruction of military installations I saw in Tripoli was mind boggling with the Libyans saying the Americans did that.

So we busted Qaddafi's chops and wrecked his military and then left town without providing any adult supervision to fill the vacuum.

Egypt says 25 militants killed in air strikes as Sisi inspects troops
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Egyptian warplanes killed 25 Islamist turbans in North Sinai on Saturday, security sources said, as the Egyptian president visited the province after a major escalation of the conflict there.

The sources said the air strikes hit krazed killer targets near the town of Sheikh Zuweid, destroying weapons and explosives caches.

They also said security forces had found about half a ton of explosives in a tunnel on the border between the Sinai and Gazoo.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi inspected soldiers and police in El-Arish, the historic provincial capital, on Saturday, the presidency said in statement.

Sisi, dressed in military garb for the first time since becoming president just over a year ago, told troops at least 200 turbans had been killed in the fighting in recent days, but added:

"For me to say that things are under control is not enough, things are totally stable.

"I tell Egyptians ... the size of forces here (in Sinai) is one percent of Egypt's army."

Militants launched a coordinated assault on military checkpoints in North Sinai on Wednesday, leading to day-long fighting which left more than 100 turbans and 17 soldiers dead, the army said.

Egyptian air strikes killed 23 Islamist turbans the next day, security sources said.

Hours after Sisi's speech in El-Arish, Sinai Province said in a statement posted on Twitter it had attacked two army vehicles with two bombs in the area of Sheikh Zuweid.

Rooters could not verify the authenticity of the statement.

Security and medical sources said two people had been killed and one maimed when a rocket-propelled grenade, fired at security forces, hit a house in Sheikh Zuweid.

Boko Haram Female Suicide Bombers Kill Scores in Nigerian Village
[ALMANAR.LB] Nigeria's army said on Saturday that scores of people had been killed in an attack by six jacket wallahs on the northeastern village of Zabarmari, near Maiduguri.

"A total of six suicide bombers had detonated themselves around the garage killing scores of people while some people were also maimed. A soldier also died," the defense headquarters said in a statement of Friday's attack.

It said a jeep full of Improvised Explosives Devises (IEDs) was recovered by troops after the assault on the village which lies about 10 kilometers (six miles) from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.

"Military explosives ordinance experts backed by police bomb disposal units are continuing with vigorous search for any bombs that might have been hidden or left unwent kaboom! in the area," it said.

The army had deployed troops to drive out the bully boyz from the restive region, and the two sides engaged in fierce battle in Zabarmari on Friday.

Many terrified residents of the village were said to have fled to Maiduguri following the attack.

Witnesses said that several exploding trollop female suicide bombers blew themselves up in the midst of fleeing residents, leaving many dead and scores injured.

The attack on Zabarmari follows a wave of attacks by Boko Haram

and United States appealed for a pause in the war to enable aid deliveries to stricken civilians.

An Arab coalition has been bombarding Iran-allied Houthi forces and allied army units since March in a campaign to restore exiled President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to power.

Houthi sources said six people including a woman and a child were killed and six maimed in a dawn air strike on the al Jaraf neighborhood of the capital Sanaa.

The Houthi-controlled Saba news agency reported 10 people were killed by Saudi-led aerial attacks on a building in Bayt al-Faqih city in the southwestern province of al Hodeida.

Eight Houthis were also killed in an kaboom at the public library in the Red Sea port city of Hodeida used by members of the group, local officials said. But the exact cause of the blast was disputed, with one report saying it was caused by an air strike while another said it was a boom-mobile.

Air strikes were also staged against Faj Attan mountain overlooking Sanaa, home to a military base and a weapons depot that had been a frequent target in the course of the three-month-old war in the Arabian Peninsula country.

In the dawn attack, warplanes also hit the ministry of communications building, Saba reported, setting it on fire and destroying nearby buildings.

Warplanes returned for another raid on Sanaa around noon, but there was no immediate word on casualties or damage.

The Houthis captured Sanaa last September, pushing Hadi's government aside and then began expanding south and westwards. The president eventually fled the port of Aden in March after the Houthis advanced on his southern stronghold.

Bomb goes off near banquet hall in Peshawar
[DAWN] An bomb went off near a banquet hall in Nishtar Abad area of the placid provincial capital on Friday, but there were no casualties, police said.

The blast took place around 4.30am near Haleem Banquet Hall located along GT Road, smashing its windowpanes and the buildings nearby, a police official at the Gulbahar cop shoppe told Dawn. He said that unidentified persons had planted an bomb near the banquet hall that went off with a bang, but no one was hurt in the kaboom.

The official said that according to the bomb disposal unit the explosives weighed around one kilogram, adding that motive behind the attack was not clear as the hall owner Haji Haleem had not informed police about any extortion threat.

The official said police had started the paperwork but haven't done much else against unidentified persons and began investigation.

Such attacks have surged in the placid provincial capital in the recent past with an apparent aim to force victims to pay extortion money to criminals and Death Eaters.

Bomb injures four soldiers in Mindanao
[Sun Star] Four Philippine soldiers were injured when New People's Army militants set off an improvised bomb at the height of a firefight in the hinterlands of Agusan del Sur.

Eastmincom spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Gubat said the blast occurred Thursday afternoon in Loreto. He said the soldiers were on security patrol following the reported presence of communist rebels when the fighting broke out in the village of Binucayan.

Gubat said the NPA militants set off an improvised bomb made from a landmine that injured the soldiers. He said that locals observed the militants carrying some of their wounded as they fled.

Syrian army bombards rebels trying to seize Aleppo
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Syrian government forces carried out heavy air strikes on rebel positions in and around the northern city of Aleppo on Friday, aiming to repel a major Islamist-led offensive on areas controlled by Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Oppressor of the Syrians and the Lebs...

Thursday's attack, the most intense bad boy offensive in Aleppo in three years, aimed to build on recent advances against Assad by an array of groups fighting on separate fronts, including Islamic State

and rebels backed by his regional foes.

Aleppo, 50 km (30 miles) south of the Turkish border, was Syria's most populous city before the country's descent into civil war. It has been partitioned into zones of government and bad boy control since 2012.

Aleppo is of vital importance to Assad, and losing it would further entrench a de facto partition of Syria between western areas still governed from Damascus and the rest of the country run by a patchwork of militias.

Fighting between the Death Eaters and government forces in Aleppo raged into the early hours of Friday, and Syrian air and army strikes on rebel emplacements were continuous, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a group monitoring the war, said.

A Syrian military source said the attack had been repulsed and heavy casualties had been inflicted on the bad boys. He added that the air force and artillery had been used to target the rebels, who he said had used heavy weapons in their attack.

Later, state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
showed scores of bodies of armed combatants, saying the army had killed at least 100 Death Eaters in the counter-offensive.

The Observatory's Rami Abdulrahman said earlier rebel forces had seized some buildings from government control on the northwestern city outskirts of Jamiyat al-Zahra. He later said the Death Eaters were making headway in a part of western Aleppo that would get them closer to the heart of the city.

At least 35 Death Eaters were killed in that area, including a dozen Syrians and many others of central Asian origin, Abdulrahman said. The Syrian war has drawn imported muscle from across the Moslem world, including jihadists from central Asia.

Air strikes were also reported near the town of Azaz in the north of Aleppo, just over the border from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

said they had set up a joint operations room to run the offensive to "liberate" Aleppo and later govern it according to Islamic sharia law.

, said they had taken a major research facility close to the heart of government-controlled Aleppo.

Security sources in Turkey, one of the countries most hostile to Assad, said Turkish authorities had deployed additional troops and equipment along part of its border with Syria as fighting north of Aleppo intensified.

's de facto capital in Syria.

"While having control of Ain Issa, south of the strategic city of Gire Spi, Kurdish forces and the Free Syrian Army are reportedly being deployed in areas 35km northern the city of Raqa," Rudaw correspondent Omar Kalo said on Saturday.

"If they [anti-ISIS local forces] recapture the town of Serrin, then the canton of Kobani will be completely cleaned up from ISIS myrmidons," Kalo has added.

The strategic ISIS stronghold of Serrin lies in the south of Kobani and is a key position north of the myrmidon group's pro-claimed Raqqa capital.

Commander Abu Musa spoke to Rudaw on Saturday and confirmed that "their forces are moving towards Raqa province after a series of advances achieved in Hissa village from the east, Kharbat Al-Hada village from west."

"YPG and the Free Syrian Army have liberated Ain Issa from al-Baghdadi's myrmidons, and now we are in the heart of the town, "Hussein Jassim, an FSA soldier told Rudaw.

Despite days of intense fights inside Ain Issa, some of the residents refused to abandon their homes.

Mohamad Mustafa, a resident of Ain Issa, told Rudaw that when ISIS militias took control of the town, his family refused to flee.

"When they [ISIS] came all my family members were in the town. I decided to stay and no one questioned me while they were here," he said.

At least 25 Nusra members dead in mosque blast in Syria's Idlib
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] An kaboom at a mosque in Syria's Idlib province on Friday killed at least 25 members of the Al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front, the British-based Observatory group said.

The blast in the town of Ariha in northwestern Syria went off as members of the Nusra Front gathered at the mosque for iftar, the meal with which Moslems break their fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

The U.K.-based activist group said the kaboom in Salem Mosque in Ariha also killed a senior non-Syrian member of the hardline group. Opposition-based social media websites had conflicting casualty figures with some saying more than 40 people were dead.

No group announced responsibility for the blast, but supporters of the Nusra Front blamed rival ultra hardline ISIS snuffies who have fought the group on several frontlines in Syria.

A coalition of rebel groups called Jaish al-Fatah, or the Army of Conquest, in which Nusra Front is a major part of its composition, have controlled most of Idlib province since the capture of the historic provincial capital in March.

LAF Arrests 4 Syrians over Terror Links
[ALMANAR.LB] The Lebanese Army Forces detained on Friday four Syrians in the Bekaa Valley in east Leb suspected of belonging to terrorist groups, a statement issued by the military command said.

"An Army Intelligence unit detained on the Labweh-Arsal road" four Syrians suspected of having links to terror organizations, the statement, issued late Friday, said.

The four were identified as Salah Mohammad al-Jebbe, Mohammad Ahmad al-Khatib, Hamza Soueidan al-Hamza and Mohammad Fawzi al-Buheiri.

An investigation is underway with the four suspects under the supervision of the judiciary, the statement said.

Key Rebel City Sieged in Syria by Assad Forces and Hezbollah
They meant besieged, of course. One would expect the layers of professional editors at Newsweek and Reuters to catch such things... but clearly those beautifully educated personages have better things to do.
[NEWSWEEK] The Syrian army and the Lebanese Hezbollah militia said they had launched a major ground and air assault on the rebel-held Syrian city of Zabadani on Saturday and were closing in on forces of Evil holed up inside.

The army, with its Shi'ite ally Hezbollah, has long sought to wrest control of Zabadani from Sunni rebels who have held it since 2012, a year after the start of the Syrian civil war. The city is near the Lebanese border and the Beirut-Damascus highway that links the countries, and so capturing it would be a major strategic gain for Syrian President Bashar al Assad's government.

Footage released on Hezbollah's TV channel al Manar and Syrian state TV showed large plumes of smoke rising from the city, and the sounds of aerial bombardment and heavy artillery shelling could be heard. New footage showed artillery rounds being fired from high ground in a mountain range that surrounds the Zabadani towards the center of the city.

The once popular resort city, northwest of the capital Damascus, is one of the rebels' last strongholds along the border. It was part of a major supply route for weapons sent by Syria to Hezbollah before the 2011 outbreak of the Syrian conflict, which has killed over 200,000 people.

The Syrian army said it had inflicted heavy casualties on "the terrorist groups fortified inside the city" and was advancing from several fronts towards their positions.

A hilltop west of Zabadani that overlooks rebel positions, known as Qalat al Tel, was also captured, the army said.

IS child executioners brutally shoot dead 25 Syrian regime soldiers
[DAILYMAIL.CO.UK] ISIS has released a significant new execution video from the historic city of Palmyra, in the Syrian desert.

Child executioners are shown in the video being forced to brutally slaughter a group of more than 25 regime soldiers.

The video shows the soldiers lined up on their knees on the stage of the Roman amphitheatre, which had formerly been used for an annual festival in the city.

A baying crowd of men and boys gathered in the restored ruin waiting for the slaughter, many wearing military uniforms and headscarves.

Behind each condemned man stands a child executioner, all wearing desert camouflage and brown bandanas, many of whom appear to be no older than 12 or 13 years old.

ISIS fighters can be seen standing or sitting on top of the ancient ruins, watching over the crowd as they wait for the slaughter.

A leader speaks to the audience, in front of an enormous ISIS flag draped across the back of the stage.

On a command, the condemned soldiers are killed simultaneously with a shot to the head.

ISIS captured the historic city on May 21, and has been systematically destroying the city's treasured ancient monuments.

The group was accused of executing hundreds of people in and around Palmyra since it swept into the city in May, after a lightning advance across the desert from its stronghold in the Euphrates Valley to the east.

ISIS is known for using children -- dubbed 'caliphate cubs' -- as jacket wallahs, soldiers and executioners in their attempts to instill fear across Iraq and Syria.

Authorities fear that the use of children as soldiers and suicide bombers will only increase in the coming months.
