#1  Oddly enough, Jane Wyatt was never married to John Gilbert.

John Gilbert would never disparage
The sacred condition of marriage:
"It's only that maybe
I'm too big a baby
For women to push in a carriage."

If a gal gave John Gilbert a kiss,
She was doomed to connubial bliss,
But all was not lost --
Once the threshold was crossed,
He'd say, "Honey, let's give it a miss!"

At least five killed in clashes as violence continues in Benghazi
[Libya Herald] The bodies of five members of pro-government forces battling Benghazi Revolutionaries Shoura Council (BRSC) were taken to Benghazi Medical Centre (BMC) as fighting continued in the city into its eighth day . . .
Rest of it's behind the pay wall.

Derna militants kill 2 men from Shahat in failed prisoner exchange
[Libya Herald] Two men from the Cyrenaican town of Shahat died at the hands of Islamic Lions of Islam in Derna on Wednesday, according to a source from within the military.

One of the victims has been identified as Osama Tayyib Al-Ar, while the other's identity is still unknown.

It is believed that the two men were kidnapped as leverage in a prisoner exchange, but when negotiations failed, the men were simply killed, the source said.

According to a member of the staff at Al-Haraish Hospital in Derna, the men died from gunshot wounds and their bodies were taken back to Shahat early Thursday morning.

As Derna's Shoura Council of Islamic Youth (SCIY) has gained power and declared allegiance to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), the town has become a hotbed for extremism. This past week, SCIY set up an Islamic Court and handed down a sentence of public flogging for a group of young men found guilty of alcohol abuse.

Kikla said to be 'holding out'
[Libya Herald] Despite claims by Zintani forces connected to the Libya National Army to have taken Kikla, the mountain town has not fallen, the Libya Herald has been told by a reliable source who visited it two days ago.

"Kikla is holding out", the source said, but the situation was "very bad".
Fran and Ollie have it even worse.
Many people had been killed, he stated, adding that "it's mostly fighters now in the town". Almost all the residents had left. But those still there were taking a tremendous battering, mainly by Grad missiles. The main mosque had been turned into a hospital which hevisited twice during the day. Each time there had been fresh maimed brought in.

The situation had reached stalemate he explained. Because of the mountainous terrain, both Kikla's defenders and the Zintani attackers occupied key high ground from which they could not be expelled but which enabled them to prevent the enemy from advancing.

He said small groups of fighters from towns across the Jebel had gone to fight the Zintanis and that that following a meeting convoked by Misratans this week of representatives from such towns, Jadu had agreed to send a force to help defend Kikla. It would not, however, comply with Misratan requests that it attack Zintan.

It was likely that the fellow Amazigh town of Nalut would join Jadu in sending a group of fighters, he added, but it too would refrain from going on the offensive against Zintan.

Whoever sent troops, he said, there was now a war of attrition, with stalemate facing both side.

Tunisia security forces clash with militants
[Iran Press TV] Security forces in Tunisia have clashed with Lions of Islam in two separate incidents ahead of the North African country's parliamentary elections.

On Thursday, police surrounded a house where suspected Lions of Islam had sheltered in the Oued Ellil suburb of the capital, Tunis. The gunnies had earlier killed one police officer and maimed another during a shootout.

Witnesses at the scene said neighboring houses were evacuated and gas, electricity and water supplies were cut.

Interior Ministry front man Mohammed Ali Aroui said the gunnies's goal was to disturb the elections.

Earlier in the day, security forces tossed in the slammer
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
two men armed with assault rifles following a clash in the town of Kebili. A bystander was killed during the exchange of fire.

Tunisia is set to hold parliamentary elections on Sunday, and approximately 5.2 million voters are eligible to cast their ballots.

Over 13,000 candidates started their official electoral campaigns around three weeks ago for the 217 seats in the country's National Assembly.

The Islamist Ennahda Movement and the secular Nidaa Tounes Party are expected to win the majority of the votes in the upcoming elections.

Authorities have warned that Lions of Islam would launch a spate of attacks in an attempt to disrupt the elections and destabilize the country.

Boko Haram abducts 60 women, girls in Nigeria's northeast
[Iran Press TV] Takfiri

Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
bully boyz in Nigeria have kidnapped at least 60 women and girls following attacks on two remote towns in the country's northeast, despite a truce between the government and the krazed killers.

The residents of the northeastern town of Wagga said on Friday that Boko Haram bully boyz had attacked the town, going door-to-door in search of young women and girls. The bully boyz kidnapped 40 females in the town.

Separately, witnesses in Gwarta reported a kidnapping at the weekend involving 20 females. No more details have yet been revealed.

Wagga is close to the town of Chibok, where 276 girls were kidnapped by Boko Haram in April, triggering worldwide outrage. A number of the girls kidnapped in Chibok have managed to break from Boko Haram's custody but some 200 still remain missing.

The Nigerian government recently announced that it had reached a temporary truce with Boko Haram in an effort to secure the release of the schoolgirls from Chibok.

Negotiations over the release of the schoolgirls are under way between the representatives of the government and Boko Haram in the Chadian capital, N'Djamena.

Great White North
Canadian MPs armed up, barricaded doors during attack
My headline; the AFP headline insults Mr. Harper.
Ottawa (AFP) - Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper was shoved into a closet when a gunman stormed parliament, local newspapers said Friday. According to MPs cited anonymously by the daily Globe & Mail and others, Harper spent as much as 15 minutes in the tiny space off a meeting room where he and his Conservative caucus were meeting.

Just outside the room, a firefight was erupting in the main Hall of Honor between the gunman and security forces that ended in the assailant's death.

Harper initially sought to escape the room through a side door, but was urged to stay put.

"Someone knew there was a closet there, so they stuck him in there," a source told the Globe & Mail.
Fair enough, you try to protect your leader.
Others in the room reportedly thought he was gone.

Meanwhile, several Tory MPs began fashioning spears out of flagpoles to protect themselves.

"These guys were up there holding these spears ready to impale anyone who came in," the source said.

News images of the frantic scene also showed antique tables and green leather chairs stacked against the door as a barricade against the gunman.

#4  I was flying my plane into Canada 20 years ago and landed at Beaver Creek on the Alcan border in the Yukon Territory. Had a shotgun in the back for survival weapon. The customs officer was a scotsman chap. The first thing that he asked was whether I had any pistols in my plane. I mentioned that I just had a shotgun, and left my pistol in Fairbanks.

So he asks me then what the Canadian punishment was for armed robbery. I told him I didn't know. He said 10 years. Then he said if the crime was committed with a pistol they tack on another 2 years for pistol time.

So I told him that's why I didn't bring a pistol. He never went over to our plane, never checked the dog's health papers. Just gave us our passports back and away we went.

#5  Washington is running around in a dither and has had great difficulty defining "Islamic terrorism or terrorists" since MoBama has been in the WH. As long as there is such difficulty, little will ever be done to address the terrorism problem.

Maybe a Pres in the WH who picks up his .44 magnum, calmly goes out on the WH front lawn and dispatches an Islamic fence jumper and then says: "Take that you SOB wherever the hell you came from" would ease the uneasiness Americans have been feeling for 6-1/2 years.

Police say New York hatchet attack by Islamic convert was terrorist attack

The hatchet-wielding man who wounded two New York City police officers, critically injuring one, was a self-radicalized convert to Islam who is believed to have acted alone in what police on Friday called a terrorist attack.

The suspect, Zale Thompson, who was shot dead by two other officers on Thursday afternoon on a Queens street, had made anti-Western postings on social media and visited websites associated with several radical Islamic groups, police told a news conference. "This was a terrorist attack," Commissioner William Bratton said.

province, on Thursday morning.

Imran Qureshi, a police brass hat told Dawn that the gunnies shot up a Mazda bus and killed eight members of the Hazara community.

"The assailants sprayed bullets over the bus and managed to escape unhurt from the spot," Qureshi said.

The bodies were brought to the Bolan Medical Complex hospital where a large number of people had gathered. Qureshi said initially six people had been killed, however, two more succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital.

"This is an act of assassination," he said.

Panic prevailed among locals after the killings.

The target of the attack was said to be a vehicle of the Frontier Corps (FC).

According to eye witnesses and rescue workers, the powerful blast rocked the entire Qambrani road and surrounding areas.

"We could see thick black smoke from quite a distance," Fateh Muhammad, an eye-witness told Dawn.

Police and paramilitary troops were called in the area to bring the situation under control.

"The bomb was planted on a cycle of violence," Imran Qureshi, Senior Superintendent of Police(SSP) Sariab said.

The blast was followed by intense firing and panic spread in the area and, people were confined to their homes and shops.

Dizzy, vomiting and struggling to breathe, 11 Iraqi coppers were rushed to a government hospital 50 miles north of the capital last month. The diagnosis: poisoning by chlorine gas. The perpetrators, according to the officers: Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
krazed killers.

The chlorine attack appears to be the first confirmed use of chemical weapons by the Islamic State on the battlefield. An Iraqi Defense Ministry official corroborated the events, and doctors said survivors' symptoms were consistent with chlorine poisoning.
When I was in the Army, back in the Upper Mesozoic, "WMDs" consisted of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons. Since then we've let people who hate us screw with the English language to the point where a pipe bomb is described as a "weapon of mass destruction" and a chlorine plant is described as something (undefined) else. Therefore "there were no weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq; Bush lied, people died. Then some more of them did.
Iraqi forces say two other crude chlorine attacks have occurred since the gunnies seized vast tracts of Iraqi territory this summer, but details on those incidents remain sketchy. The reported assaults all raise concerns that the Death Eaters are attempting to hone their chemical weapons capabilities as they push to control more ground.

The presence of a large former Iraqi chemical weapons production plant in territory seized by the Islamic State has compounded those fears, although officials and chemical weapons experts say the 2,500 degraded rockets filled with nerve agents that remain there are unlikely to be fit for use. Weapons inspectors sealed them off with concrete in a bunker more than 20 years ago.

The lesson from WWII is that weakness invites attack. B.O. has managed to appear weak while being commander-in-chief of the largest most powerful military on the planet. As Bugs Bunny would say, "What a maroon".

#3  The "professionalism" of the IS armed forces makes me think there are a LOT of Ba'athists from Saddam Hussein's reign working in that group. The comments about flying MiG aircraft, using tanks, etc., show the people in charge have quite a bit of military experience. This isn't a "rag-tag guerilla army" but some fairly well-trained troops in key positions.

IS Jihadists Gain Ground in Iraq's Anbar

(IS) group jihadists gained ground west of Baghdad Thursday, further reducing the government's already-shaky hold on Anbar province, officials said.

"The Albu Nimr area fell completely into the hand of (IS) members," Ghazi Najras, an Anbar MP, said in reference to the tract on the Euphrates River and east of the town of Heet, which fell last week.

Clashes began early Thursday and lasted until about 10:00 am (0700 GMT), police Colonel Shaban al-Obaidi said.

The bully boyz then detained more than 60 people, including security forces members, the officer said.

IS, which spearheaded a sweeping offensive in June that overran much of Iraq's Sunni Arab heartland, has executed hundreds of captured security forces members.

Albu Nimr is the latest in a string of places in Anbar to fall in recent weeks. The series of setbacks has prompted warnings from some officials that the entire province, which borders Jordan, Soddy Arabia

The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and Baghdad province, could fall completely.

Some officials and Sunni tribal leaders in areas most affected by the unrest have argued the world should step up its involvement from air strikes against IS to a ground intervention in Iraq. But Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi has repeatedly said he opposes foreign ground troops fighting in Iraq.

Mount Sinjar Besieged Again
[IsraelTimes] In Iraq, IS fighters had again surrounded Mount Sinjar in the country's north where they had trapped thousands of civilians this summer, commanders in the area said.

The civilians, mostly members of the Yazidi religious minority, eventually escaped via Syria with the help of Kurdish fighters from Iraq's neighbour to the west, but that route has now been cut.

"The mountain is besieged" again, and IS Death Eaters are "trying to climb the mountain on foot to fight the Yazidi volunteers," Dawud Jundi, a commander of the forces defending the area, told AFP by telephone.

The IS push began Monday, when some 300 of the Death Eaters with armoured vehicles attacked and seized nearby villages and then turned their attention on the mountain itself.

"We don't have anything but light weapons," Jundi said.

On Mount Sinjar, "there are almost 2,000 families whose situations are very bad," he said.

The first siege of Mount Sinjar was a key moment in the conflict with IS, with the plight of the people trapped on the mountain helping to prompt Washington to begin air strikes against the jihadists.

The Iraqi capital Baghdad has also seen a wave of kabooms against Shiite targets in recent days, with IS claiming responsibility for some.

At least 28 people were killed on Wednesday when boom-mobiles went off near a maternity hospital and a service station in areas of the capital where Shiites have frequently been targeted.

The bloodshed has raised fears of further attacks during the Ashura religious ritual in early November, when hundreds of thousands of Shiite faithful converge on the holy city of Karbala on foot.

Sort of like Kobane would facilitate lines toward Aleppo, but again. more of a C4/security aspect and it'd be a lot harder for an enemy to retake.

It would also essentially prevent the Iraqi Kurds from supporting the Syrian ones. More or less splitting the Kurds into two areas.

ISIL murderous Moslems across the country, inflicting heavy losses on them, Press TV reports.

The Iraqi army, which has been fighting the terrorist group for nearly six months now, engaged the Takfiri holy warriors south of the city of Tikrit in Salah al-Din Province, killing at least 20 terrorists.

"There are big changes on the ground. In Salah al-Din, the army made advances in the past couple of days," Hassan Moussawi, a political analyst, said.

Hassan Sabti, a university professor, also said, "In Salah al-Din, the army forces were able to liberate many cities and now advancing toward Baiji."

The Iraqi army also continued to advance in the eastern Diyala Province, regaining strategic parts of the province used by the holy warriors as launch pads for attacks against the Iraqi forces.

In a separate incident, 134 ISIL holy warriors along with a big shot of the terrorist group were killed in Arclight airstrikes by an anti-ISIL coalition in the city of Baiji, which is located near Salah al-Din Province.

The US-led coalition has been conducting Arclight airstrikes on ISIL positions across Iraq, but the air raids have so far failed to dislodge the terrorists.

The Iraqi troops have pledged to make more gains in the coming weeks.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Security Forces On High Alert In Jerusalem Ahead Of Friday Prayers
[IsraelTimes] Security forces were spreading out throughout East Jerusalem as well as the Old City Friday morning ahead of what was expected to be a volatile day, following a week of Arab rioting and violence in the capital.

Police said they would limit entry to the Temple Mount compound to males 40 and up and women of any age, after receiving information that Arab youths intended to foment unrest in the area after the conclusion of Friday prayers. Police officials warned they would show "zero tolerance" for unruly behavior.

The forces included police, border police and several special units. Medical teams would also be on high alert throughout the city, officials said.

Tensions flared in the capital Thursday in the wake of a Wednesday terrorist attack on a Jerusalem light rail station in which three-month-old Chaya Zissel Braun was killed and eight others were maimed.

Jerusalem's mayor called for a crackdown against the wave of Paleostinian unrest. In an interview, Mayor Nir Barkat said the violence had become intolerable, and he vowed to restore order.

"Yesterday what we saw is another higher level, of people running over a 3-month-old baby," he told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named. "We must fight violence and we will win that war."

Police on Thursday dispersed a crowd of rioters who were throwing stones at the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Wadi Joz. No injuries were reported but the stones caused damage to a vehicle, according to the Ynet news site.

A police undercover unit jugged

two Paleostinian teenagers in Shuafat Thursday evening for throwing stones at the city's light rail. Meanwhile right-wing activists held a rally near the scene of Wednesday's attack, with several holding placards calling for "Revenge" and "Death to Terrorists."

Earlier, a Paleostinian woman was pelted with stones in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem's old city. Police forces were searching the area for the perpetrators of the attack.

A medical team that arrived at the scene treated the woman for minor injuries.

In a separate incident, the words 'death to Arabs' and 'die Arabs' were found spray-painted in a public park in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo, the NRG news site reported.

Early Thursday morning, a Jewish kindergarten in the Ma'ale Hazeitim neighborhood on the Mount of Olives, near Ras el-Amud in East Jerusalem, was pelted with rocks. No casualties were reported in the incident.

Police were searching for the perpetrators, who expeditiously departed at a goodly pace.

In the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber, masked Paleostinian protesters hurled stones at Jewish pedestrians on a street in nearby East Talpiot. No injuries or damage were reported.

Paleostinians also threw stones at two buses near Gethsemane, east of the Old City, lightly injuring one man.

Earlier, police arrested a Paleostinian man at a West Bank checkpoint near the southern entrance to Jerusalem after the man allegedly assaulted a security guard at the site, Israel Radio reported.

Wednesday's train station attack was carried out by Silwan resident Abdel Rahman al-Shaludi. He attempted to flee the scene of the attack on foot and was shot by police, a police spokesperson said. Al-Shaludi later died of his wounds in hospital.

Hours after the attack, Arab residents of the capital hurled rocks at a train station in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat, causing damage to two train cars at the site.

Police and Border Police forces were showered with stones overnight Wednesday and throughout Thursday morning in the East Jerusalem village of Issawiya, near the Hebrew University campus on Mount Scopus. No casualties were reported in the attacks.

Stones Hurled At Jewish Kindergarten In East Jerusalem
[Ynet] Rock-throwing incidents and festivities continue overnight, early morning in Silwan, Shuafat; damage caused to light rail but no one was hurt.

Following the deadly attack at the Jerusalem Light Rail, stones were hurled on Thursday morning at a kindergarten in the Ma'ale ha-Zeitim neighborhood in East Jerusalem, near the Arab neighborhood of Ras al-Amud.

Border police and police forces started searching for the suspects who expeditiously departed at a goodly pace. No damage was caused and no one was hurt.

"We heard booms in the morning coming from the kindergarten," said Shlomi, the father of one of the kids at the kindergarten. "We went into the kindergarten and saw all the kids cooped up in one of the rooms. The kindergarten's entire playground was covered with stones. From in between the houses we could see several masked men throwing stones. "

Shlomi went on to say this incident occurred "right in the center of Jerusalem. There are over a hundred Jewish families here, we're not in the middle of Tayibe."

He criticized the government's policy of "containment."

"We have to thoroughly deal with this problem. There's a daily friction, but the problem is that they don't let the security forces act. There's a policy of containment, and that's why the neighbors here cause problems, and it's on the children's experience," Shlomi said.

"We won't leave here, we won't break, even though this is a time of escalation," he added.

After nightfall, Silwan residents clashed with police, who responded to rocks and petrol bombs with stun grenades. Police clashed with stone-throwing protesters elsewhere in the city as well, where one person was injured and two others were incarcerated
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
Scores of police could be seen trying to enter the family home of 21-year-old Abed Abdelrahman Shaludeh, the terrorist behind the attack, as dozens of masked Paleostinians hurled stones at them, police and residents said.

Four family members who went to visit Shaludeh in Shaarei Tzedek hospital were arrested, a relative told AFP.

Clashes also erupted in Issawiya, Al-Tur and Shuafat refugee camp. Residents in the Mount Scopus area were experiencing difficulties breathing because of tear gas that was fired in festivities between security forces and Paleostinians in Isawiya and Silwan in East Jerusalem.

Overnight and early Thursday morning, stones were thrown at the Jerusalem Light Rail in the Shuafat area. In both incidents, damage was caused to the Light Rail but no one was hurt.

East Jerusalem has experienced months of unrest since a wave of violence erupted over the summer. Train passengers have reported Paleostinians attacking the carriages with rocks and other violence.

Repeated damage caused by Paleostinians has put a third of its carriages out of commission on the Jerusalem light railway, which links Arab and Jewish neighborhoods and was once hailed by Israeli authorities as a symbol of coexistence.

On Wednesday night, a man was lightly maimed from stones thrown at his car on Highway 20 near Beit Hanina.

Two Philippine soldiers gunned down at hospital
Two Philippine soldiers were killed with M-16 rifles they had to surrender at emergency room in Maguindanao province.

Supt. Noel De los Reyes, police chief in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said investigators are looking into possible Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) involvement in the slaying in retaliation for the arrest of a high-ranking member, Abi Salman.

Dr. Tahir Sulaik said the shooting occurred at a hospital in Datu Hoffer town at around 9 p.m. Wednesday, when the attackers entered the emergency room and aimed their guns at the soldiers from behind. After the soldiers surrendered their riffles, the assailants used the firearms to riddle their bodies with bullets before fleeing.

"We vehemently condemn the attack inside the hospital... we are open to all who seek our assistance but it really feels sad they [attackers] did it there," Sulaik said, adding that none of the hospital staff or patients were injured during the attack.

Activists: Syria Airstrikes Toll Over 500
[Ynet] Out of 553 killed in US-led coalition strikes in Syria, 464 of them Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
krazed killers, 57 Nusra Front gunnies and 32 civilians.

US-led coalition Arclight airstrikes on Syria have killed more than 500 people, mainly Islamic krazed killers, since they began last month, activists said Thursday, as fighting flared in the northern Syrian border town of Kobani.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which relies on a network of activists on the ground, said 553 people have been killed since the Arclight airstrikes began on September 23, including 32 civilians. The civilians included six children and five women.

The group said it has documented the deaths of 464 fighters with the Islamic State group, adding that the real number could be much higher. Another 57 fighters with the al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front were killed in Arclight airstrikes on the northern province of Aleppo and Idlib, the Observatory said.

"Combined with continued resistance to ISIL on the ground, indications are that these strikes have slowed ISIL advances into the city, killed hundreds of their fighters and destroyed or damaged scores of pieces of ISIL combat equipment and fighting positions," Central Command said.
Many of the Islamic State fighters have been killed in or near Kobani, the target of a massive jihadi offensive since mid-September. IS fighters have captured dozens of surrounding Kurdish villages and forced more than 200,000 people to flee for safety in neighboring Turkey.

Earlier this week, the US Central Command said its forces have conducted more than 135 Arclight airstrikes against Islamic State gunnies in and around Kobani, killing hundreds of fighters.

"Combined with continued resistance to ISIL on the ground, indications are that these strikes have slowed ISIL advances into the city, killed hundreds of their fighters and destroyed or damaged scores of pieces of ISIL combat equipment and fighting positions," Central Command said in a statement.

An News Agency that Dare Not be Named journalist on the Turkish side of the border said heavy machine gun fire could be heard from Kobani, which is also known as Ayn Arab, on Thursday.

"The fighting has been ongoing since last night on the eastern and southern fronts. It is some of the longest festivities in Kobani," said Kurdish activist Farhad Shami by telephone from the town. "The fighting usually only takes place at night."

Shami said the Islamic State group launched an attack from three fronts late Wednesday but failed to advance. Still he said that Kurdish fighters withdrew from the Tel Shair hill that overlooks parts of Kobani.

The Observatory said Islamic State fighters captured the hill, closing in on the town from the west. It said Islamic State fighters are also trying to advance from the eastern side of the town, saying there were casualties on both sides.

The hill was captured by the Kurds from Islamic state fighters earlier this month.

The US-led coalition has aggressively targeted IS-held oil facilities in Syria, which provide a key source of income for the krazed killers.
Idris Nassan, deputy minister for foreign affairs in a Kurdish civil administration controlling Kobani, said that although Islamic State fighters moved onto Tel Shair hill, the heavy fighting there was ongoing.

"Kobani has been witnessing fierce festivities since last night. It was one of the bad nights," Nassan said.

The Observatory meanwhile reported four coalition Arclight airstrikes on oil wells in the Jafra field in the eastern Syrian province of Deir el-Zour late Wednesday. The Local Coordination Committees, an activist group, also reported the Arclight airstrikes in areas held by the Islamic State group.

The US-led coalition has aggressively targeted IS-held oil facilities in Syria, which provide a key source of income for the krazed killers. But such strikes also endanger civilians, which could undermine long-term efforts to destroy the krazed killer group.

The attacks on the oil industry, including refineries, have also led to a sharp rise in the price of oil products in rebel-held areas of Syria.
The Times of Israel adds:
Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP that the "vast majority" of jihadists killed in the strikes were not Syrians but imported muscle who had joined IS and Nusra in the country.

Syria army regains full control of Morek
[Iran Press TV] The Syrian army has flushed out Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
forces of Evil from a strategic town nine months after it was seized by the terrorists.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Thursday that Syrian ground forces backed by Arclight airstrikes liberated the town of Morek from the forces of Evil belonging to the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra
...the current nom de guerre of al-Qaeda in the Levant, which isn't to be confused with al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant...
Front.

Syrian forces "took back total control of Morek in the north of Hama countryside, after fierce battles that have raged" since Wednesday night, the UK-based Syrian opposition group said.

There has been no report on the number of the casualties of the fighting.

Morek is considered a significant town as it is located on the main road linking the Syrian capital city, Damascus, to the country's largest city of Aleppo in the northwest.

The success is the latest gain in a string of victories against the forces of Evil fighting the Syrian government.

On Monday, Syrian forces recaptured the Mazra'at al-Halabi area and Madafeh Hill in Aleppo's eastern countryside.
An Nahar adds:
The regime forces were aided in the battle by heavy air raids targeting the rebels and fighters from the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Nusra
...the current nom de guerre of al-Qaeda in the Levant, which isn't to be confused with al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant...
Front. The corpse count was not known.

Morek is important because it is on the main road linking Damascus to Aleppo, large swathes of which of have been out of army control since a major rebel offensive in July 2012.

The town is located near the countryside of the northwestern province of Idlib, much of which is held by moderate rebels who drove out the jihadist Islamic State
