Afghans, Taliban klash in Kandahar
The civilians in southern Kandahar province suffered heavy casualties during a 4-day clash that ended on Thursday night.

According to the local government officials, the clashes took place in Nish district between the Afghan forces and the Taliban insurgents.

Provincial police spokesman Zia Durani said the Taliban insurgents were forced to leave the district after around 100 additional forces were deployed to the area.

He said at least 29 Taliban insurgents were also killed during the clashes along with 4 policemen.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.

This comes as the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said late in October that the mission has documented 8,397 conflict-related civilian casualties (2,562 deaths and 5,835 injured) between 1 January and 30 September, representing a one per cent decrease compared to the same period in 2015. Ground engagements remained the leading cause of civiliancasualties, followed by suicide and complex attacks, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

“Increased fighting in densely populated areas makes it imperative for parties to take immediate steps to ensure all feasible precautions are being taken to spare civilians from harm,” said Tadamichi Yamamoto, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan.

UNAMA further added that the anti-Government Elements caused 61 per cent of civilian casualties – 1,569 civilian deaths and 3,574 injured (5,143 total civilian casualties).

Taliban militants hang engineering student near Kabul
[Iran Press TV] Talibs have hanged an engineering student in public near the Afghan capital, Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
, after accusing him of having a role in the death of a senior Taliban official.

Faizul Rehman, a fourth-year student at Kabul Polytechnic University, was hanged in front of a crowd of locals in the village of Sewaka in Chak district of Maidan Wardak province, about 60 kilometers west of the capital, on Friday.

According to Abdul Rahman Manga, a front man for the governor of the province, the holy warriors claimed that Rehman had been involved in the liquidation of a local Taliban intelligence official identified as Mullah Mirwais.

"Local elders tried to mediate to release him, but they failed," Manga further said on Saturday, adding that the ill-fated student was traveling home from Kabul to spend his holiday in the district on Thursday when he was caught by the hard boys.

Afghanistan's Tolo television news network also reported that the holy warriors had further accused Rehman of spying.

The Afghan Interior Ministry confirmed the execution and said they had initiated an investigation into the case "to arrest and punish the perpetrators of this criminal act."

Puntland army launch anti-ISIL offensive in Qandala
Forces from the northeastern semi-autonomous state of Puntland have launched an offensive on Saturday to drive pro-Islamic State militants from the strategic port town of Qandala in Bari region.

Sa’eed Waberi Mohamed, the finance secretary of Qandala administration has confirmed heavy clashes between Puntland troops and ISIL fighters in the outskirts of the town, which lies 75Km east of Bosaso. He said Puntland forces are advancing on the town from different directions as they reached Karin, small rural area located just 30Km away from the seaside city of Qandal, where the ISIL fighters are based.

Reports from the area indicate that NATO warships patrolling the coast of Somalia are involved in the battle and launching seaborne attacks against the ISIL militants in Qandala which fell to ISIL in October.

Morocco arrests Daesh operative linked to French plot

terrorist group, saying he was allegedly involved in a plot on the French soil.

The Moroccan Interior Ministry said on Saturday that the unidentified man had been cooperating with a terror cell that was busted in La Belle France in November, adding that the cell was plotting to carry out an attack in Gay Paree on Thursday.

A group of seven men were placed in durance vile

in the French cities of Strasbourg and Marseille on November 19 and 20, with authorities saying later that the men had been in contact with a commander in Iraq or Syria.

Moroccan officials said the arrested ISIS operative had been linking the group's members stationed on the Syrian-Turkish border with members of the cell in La Belle France, transferring instructions from leaders of ISIS in Syria to the faceless myrmidons in the French territory.

La Belle France has been the main victim of ISIS attacks on the European soil in the recent past. Gay Paree saw the deadliest of all in November 2015, when 130 people were killed in a matter of night across the capital city by ISIS operatives.

ISIS has European nationals of the African origin within its ranks, including many from Morocco. Abdelhamid Abaaoud, a 28-year-old Belgian of Moroccan origin, was the main suspect for orchestrating the attacks in Gay Paree and cities in Belgium. The Moroccan intelligence helped put French Sherlocks on the trail of Abaaoud last year.

Yemeni forces prepare attack on Houthis near Dhubab
ADEN: Yemeni government forces have sent reinforcements to the Red Sea coast to drive Iran-backed rebels away from a key global shipping route, military officials said on Saturday.

Dhubab, just 30 km from the strategic and busy Bab Al-Mandab strait, links the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.

Two US warships and an Emirati vessel in the Red Sea came under Houthi missile attacks in September and October.

The government now aims to “push back the rebels away from the western coast and Bab Al-Mandab, and to secure maritime navigation in the southern part of the Red Sea,” a military official said.
Pro-government forces have been sent to the area, backed by tanks, other armored vehicles and Katyusha rocket launchers, military officials said.

They said the offensive aimed to wrest back control of the coast from Dhubab as far north as Al-Khukha 90 km farther north.

Troops were also sent by the Saudi-led Arab coalition.

Meanwhile, China’s Foreign Ministry has expressed concern after the Houthis and their allies formed a new government in a blow to UN-backed efforts to end 20 months of war in the country.

In a statement late on Friday, China’s Foreign Ministry said it supported Yemen’s legal government. “We do not approve of any side in Yemen taking any unilateral actions that complicate the situation, and believe this is not beneficial to a political resolution of the Yemen issue.”

China hopes relevant parties in Yemen continue dialogue to resolve the differences and reach an equitable settlement all sides can accept on the basis of UN resolutions and GCC initiatives, it added.

Which'd be Saleh forces...
backed by fighters from allied Popular Committees, have rubbed out four Saudi troops in the kingdom’s southwestern border regions of Jizan and Asir amid Riyadh’s aerial attacks against its beleaguered southern neighbor.

Yemeni forces shot and killed three Saudi troops in the al-Dhabra military base of Jizan region, located 969 kilometers south of the capital, Riyadh, on Saturday evening, Arabic-language al-Masirah television network reported.

Separately, Yemeni soldiers and Popular Committees fighters launched an attack against a base in the al-Rabu'ah town of Asir region, killing a Saudi trooper there.

Earlier, Yemeni forces and their allies fired a barrage of artillery rounds at al-Mostahdeth camp in Jizan, but no immediate reports of possible casualties and damage were available.

Also on Saturday, Yemeni forces fired several missiles at Jizan’s al-Kars military outpost, but no casualties were reported.

Yemeni army soldiers also pounded a gathering of Saudi-sponsored Yemeni Death Eaters loyal to resigned president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi in the Nihm district of Yemen’s western-central province of Sana’a.

Similarly, casualties were caused when Yemeni soldiers and Popular Committees fighters launched a number of Katyusha rockets at Sehna Jin Camp in the central Yemeni province of Ma'rib.

Teenager charged over police fire bomb attack: French prosecutor
The unnamed, undescribed miscreant is assumed to be a Moslim colonist until information comes in proving otherwise.
[AlAhram] A 17-year-old boy has been charged and held in connection with an attack on French police by youths who threw molotov cocktails at officers, leaving two with severe burns, prosecutors said Saturday.

The boy, who was tossed in the calaboose
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
on Thursday, has been charged with "complicity in the attempted murder of persons of public authority," said Eric Lallement, the prosecutor from Evry, south of Gay Paree.

The unnamed youth is the first to be charged over the October incident that led to angry wildcat protests by police over mounting attacks on officers. Some 80 coppers and their families protested outside Every town hall last month, demanding "more resources and respect" following the attack.

On October 8 four officers were maimed when a group of around 15 youths from a housing estate in the Gay Paree suburb of Viry-Chatillon swarmed their cars and threw Molotov cocktails at them.

A 28-year-old male officer suffered very serious burns on his hands and body and is still in hospital, while his 39-year-old female partner was badly burned on the hands and face, police said.

Two other officers who were deployed as backup suffered minor injuries.

A second youth aged 15 was also arrested on Thursday suspected of having participated in making the Molotov cocktails.

Police are trying to identify the other participants in the attack using DNA found on objects at the scene as well as analysing video surveillance footage

Afghan teenager detained in rape, slaying of German student

[Ynet] German authorities say a 17-year-old Afghan who entered the country last year as an unaccompanied minor has been taken into custody on suspicion he raped and killed a 19-year-old university student.

Dieter Inhofer, prosecutor in the southwestern city of Freiburg, said Saturday that the teen asylum-seeker was identified as a suspect based on traffic video from near the crime scene. Inhofer tells the dpa news agency that DNA evidence has tied the boy to the crime scene. He was living in the area with a family.

The student vanished on her way home from a party early on Oct. 16. Her body was found in a river later that day. The suspect hasn't made a statement. Authorities are trying to determine if he and the young woman knew each other.

Three soldiers killed in clashes with PKK in Hakkari
Three soldiers were killed and six were wounded in an operation against outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants in the eastern province of Hakkari early on Dec. 2, Doğan News Agency has reported. Security sources said the casualties came from a clash in the Çukurca district of Hakkari between Turkish security forces and PKK militants in the Mount Güven area, close to Turkey’s border with Iraq.

The clashes began at 06.40 am in the Güven Dağı Base zone after a PKK militant tried to infiltrate into the facility during heavy snow and foggy weather conditions. Howitzers positioned in the area started to fire on the militants, and as militants under the offensive started to retreat, Turkish Air Force jets struck the targets, killing seven militants and heavily wounding nine others.

The nine injured were left at the scene after the attack, as security forces obtained the radio talk of fleeing militants who were instructed to leave the wounded by taking their weapons.

Separately, four militants were “neutralized” after Turkey fired artillery rounds into Hakurk, northern Iraq, from the Şemdinli district of Hakkari.

ARA news sez 30 Turkish soldiers died in the attack
Cizre – Rebel fighters of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) launched an offensive on a major Turkish army base in Hakkari Province, in southeastern Turkey, military sources reported on Saturday.

The operation targeted Turkey’s military base in Çelê district in Hakkari, where the Kurdish rebels used mortar shells and heavy machine guns.

At least 34 Turkish soldiers were reportedly killed in the attack.

The PKK leadership said in a statement to ARA News that the offensive came in response to attacks by the Turkish army against Kurdish villages and towns in Hakkari Province.

“Unless there is a political solution to the Kurdish issue in Turkey, the armed conflict will continue and intensify,” Kurdish lawyer and human rights activist Omran Mansour told ARA News.

“Turkey has eliminated all chances for dialogue with the Kurds, especially after arresting Kurdish MPs and members of the HDP [People’s Democratic Party],” he said.

Mansour added that the recent PKK operations have been focused on the Turkish military and security bases. “However, we still support dialogue and peaceful negotiations to stop violations against human rights in the Kurdish region in southeastern Turkey,” he said.

“But the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan insists to use force against Kurdish villages and towns, which will lead to a further intensification of violence across the country,” the Kurdish activist added.

al-Manar: Iraq Forces Gain Ground Northeast of Mosul
Forces from the Iraqi army retook four villages from the ISIL group northeast of the city of Mosul on Saturday, the Joint Operations Command said.

The recapture by the army’s 16th division of the villages between Bashiqa and Mosul clears the way for Iraqi forces to enter the city from the northeast.

“The army’s 16th division liberated four villages on the northern front… and raised the Iraqi flag on buildings after defeating the enemy,” a statement said.

Tens of thousands of Iraqi forces launched a massive operation to retake Mosul, the terrorists’ last major bastion in Iraq, on October 17.

The main push has come from the east, where elite forces from the Counter-Terrorism Service have retaken several neighborhoods despite fierce resistance.

Anbar Operations Command also pointed out to the destruction of a number of vehicles and weapons belonging to the group.

Southeast Asia
Bangkok bomb suspects linked to southern insurgency
[Khaosod] Three men nabbed for plotting bomb attacks in Bangkok were involved in the southern separatist movement, according to senior police officer.

Talmisi Tohtalyon, Mubarih Gana, and Abdullasir Suekachi are accused of plotting bomb attacks in tourist and residential areas of Bangkok, accusations they "half-confessed to, half-denied," said Bangkok police commander Chayapol Chatchaidej.

All three suspects are natives of the southern border provinces. Chayapol said they were linked to the southern insurgency. He said, "Yes, they are. They have a history of staging attacks. They also admitted it to us."

Chayapol echoed deputy police commissioner Srivara Ransibrahmanakul, who said Wednesday the three were involved in previous incidents in the far South, including a 2012 shooting that killed a local teacher and a 2015 bomb attack.

General Srivara said intelligence agencies discovered that the three men were in Bangkok between September and October to plan attacks before returning to Narathiwat province. The military subsequently detained them and turned them over to police Tuesday.

Chayapol said that the Talmisi, Mubarih and Abdullasir confessed to amassing bomb making equipment in several apartments in Bangkok, but denied that they were plotting an attack as claimed by police.

Ahrar al-Sham and Fateh al-Sham attack Kurd area in Aleppo
[ARA News] Aleppo – Syrian Islamist groups on Saturday bombed the Kurdish district of Sheikh Maqsoud in Aleppo city with mortar fire, local sources reported.

Militants from the Islamic Movement of Ahrar al-Sham and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham have reportedly hit the Kurdish-populated district with dozens of mortar shells and locally-made ‘hell missiles’. Jabhat Fateh al-Sham is an offshoot of al-Qaeda.

“Islamist groups of Ahrar al-Sham and Fateh al-Sham launched the attack from their bases in al-Shaar neighborhood in eastern Aleppo,” human rights activist Mehvan Mirkhan told ARA News in Aleppo. “They hit Sheikh Maqsoud with dozens of mortars and ‘hell missiles’.”

Saturday’s bombardment targeted residential buildings and a security centre for the Kurdish People’s Proection Units (YPG) in Sheikh Maqsoud.

At least five civilians and two YPG members were reported dead in the attack. Also, over ten others were injured and immediately transferred to a local makeshift hospital in the district.

“Some of the injured are in critical condition,” Doctor Mihemed Hamke, the director of a hospital in Sheikh Maqsoud District, told ARA News.

Dr Hamke added that local rescue teams continued to search for victims under the rubble.

Sheikh Maqsoud has been under a partial siege by Syrian Islamists for over three years. Violence has recently intensified in the district as the YPG have tried to establish a buffer zone.

“Armed groups surrounding the Sheikh Maqsoud District of Aleppo city have repeatedly carried out indiscriminate attacks that have struck civilian homes, streets, markets and mosques,” Amnesty International said in an earlier report about developments in the Kurdish district.

Amnesty International added the militants surrounding Sheikh Maqsoud have been “killing and injuring civilians and displaying a shameful disregard for human life.”

Syria army retakes over half of rebel east Aleppo
Syria's army advanced overnight deeper into east Aleppo where it now controls more than half of the former rebel stronghold after a fierce assault that has sparked an international outcry. Overnight, government troops and allied forces seized the district of Tariq al-Bab where heavy fighting had raged a day earlier, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Dec. 3.

The government has now recaptured around 60 percent of eastern parts of the city that the rebels overran in mid-2012, according to the Britain-based monitor.

The advance opens the road leading from the government-controlled west of the city to the international airport just outside Aleppo to the east, which is also held by the regime. And it has prompted more civilians to flee, heading either further south into remaining rebel-held districts or crossing into government-held territory or areas under Kurdish control.

Assad's forces have made swift gains in east Aleppo, and its loss would be the biggest blow yet to Syria's opposition in the more than five-year-old war.

The government has trumpeted its advances, and state television on Dec. 3 showed buses full of residents going from west Aleppo back to their homes in neighborhoods retaken by the army.

From al-Manar: 5 Civilians die in Aleppo
Five civilians were killed and 29 others were injured in terrorists attacks with rocket shells on residential neighborhoods of Halab al-Jadeda, al-Hamadniya, al-Iza’a, al-Neel Street, the University Campus, al-Ashrafiya and Saif al-Dawla in Aleppo city on Saturday.

A person was injured when terrorists from “Jaish al-Fateh” terror organization opened fire on al-Foaa town in Idleb’s northern countryside.

Local sources told SANA that terrorists located in the neighboring town of Bennesh targeted homes in al-Foaa with heavy machine guns fire, injuring one person and causing material damage to some houses.

Al-Foua’a has been besieged by terrorist organizations for over two years, and terrorists continue to target it with shells and gunfire, claiming the lives of many civilians and injuring many others.

New rebel alliance breaks Aleppo siege
So they say
[Al Arabiya] Rebels in Aleppo have agreed to form a new military alliance headed by “Abu AbdulRahman Nour,” to protect the city they control from the brutal assaults by the regime and its allies.

The new alliance would be called the Aleppo Army and would be led by the commander of the Jabha Shamiya rebel faction, one of the major groups fighting in northern Syria under the Free Syrian Army.

A commander at the Jabha Shamiya told Reuters that the new coalition will help in the centralization of the decision-taking process.

The situation in Aleppo is escalating, with the regime forces seizing more than 40% of Eastern Aleppo, 15 days after the eruption of the massive assault to restore the second biggest city in Syria.

The UN had said that Russia is working on setting up four humanitarian corridors to evacuate the wounded victims and provide medical and food supplies for the trapped civilians in East of Aleppo.

The scene in Aleppo is tragic; dead bodies all around the neighborhoods that are controlled by the opposition after the assaults led by the regime.

The majority have fled the city and those who chose to stay there, are living without the bare necessities.

International reporters and journalists are all describing the situation in Aleppo as hopeless amid the constant attacks from the regime forces.

ISIS prepares to use 700 Anbar families as human shields

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Al-Hashd al-Shaabi Command in Anbar revealed, that the Islamic State group detained 700 families in Rawa district, in western the province, in order to use them as human shields, while pointed out to the execution of dozens of youths for trying to flee toward the areas held by security forces.

Intelligence Director of al-Somoud brigade, Captain Nazim al-Jaghifi said in a press statement, “ISIS terrorist gangs are detaining 700 families, mostly women and children, in Rawa district, to use them as human shields.”

“The ISIS terrorists are preventing civilians from leaving the areas of Rawa district for three years now, and impelled them to grow their beards and wear special clothes, in addition to preventing cigarettes and burning registration offices,” Jaghifi added. “ISIS executed dozens of youths in the previous period for trying to flee toward the areas held by security forces in Haditha and Rutba,” Jaghifi explained.

Noteworthy, ISIS occupied the district of Rawa early 2014, while security forces are preparing to liberate it from the terrorists’ control.

ISIS executes 3 in Raqqa

[ARA News] Raqqa – The Islamic State (ISIS) radical group executed on Friday three young men in Syria’s northeastern Raqqa city on charges of spying for the US-led coalition.

The ISIS-led Hisba Police launched an arrest campaign in the al-Makf district of Raqqa. At least 11 people were arrested and taken into ISIS custody.

The Sharia Court of Raqqa convicted three of them with “treason” and sentenced them to death.

“The three men were executed by firing squad in central Raqqa on Friday evening,” local media activist Abdullah al-Jassim told ARA News.

The victims were identified as Muhammad Nour al-Khalaf, 21, Adel Ismael, 24, and Khalil al-Issa, 22.

Hundreds of people witnessed the execution, eyewitnesses told ARA News.

“ISIS accused them of leaking security information to the international coalition,” al-Jassim reported.

The US-led coalition has recently intensified its airstrikes against ISIS positions in Raqqa–which is deemed the ISIS de facto capital in Syria.

Roughly three weeks ago, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces launched the Euphrates Wrath Operation, with support from the US-led coalition. The operation’s long-term objective is the isolation and elimination of the Islamic State in Raqqa.

During the first phase of Euphrates Wrath, SDF soldiers captured an area measuring approximately 560 km2, containing dozens of towns, villages and farms. Military sources told ARA News that more than 185 ISIS jihadists have been killed since November 6.

Meanwhile, ISIS has tightened its security measures inside the city of Raqqa. The group has arrested and punished dozens of people on charges of cooperating with the US-led coalition and the SDF.

Woman Crucified
On November 4, the Islamic State’s militants executed and crucified a woman in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor Governorate, after accusing her of spying for Kurdish forces, activists and eyewitnesses reported.

Asmaa Muhammad, 41, was arrested by the ISIS-led Islamic Police –also known as Diwan al-Hisba– in a village in Deir ez-Zor countryside under the pretext that she has communicated with the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).

The YPG and other factions of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have been in fight with ISIS for more than two years.

The victim was arrested in the Hawij al-Bumaasa village in eastern Deir ez-Zor. “The Sharia Court accused her of spying for hostile Kurdish forces and ordered her execution,” local media activist Ahmed Ramadan told ARA News.

Asmaa was shot dead and then crucified in a public square in central Deir ez-Zor. Hundreds of people witnessed the brutal execution. “Her body was covered with blood when they brutally crucified her. They banned the people from approaching the body,” an eyewitness told ARA News.

Mosul Civilians Fear Cold, Hunger of Winter Siege

[AsharqAl-Awsat] With No food or fuel reaching distressed Mosul in nearly a week and the onset of rain and cold weather threatens a tough winter for more than a million people still in areas of the city still held by terror group ISIS, residents said on Saturday.

A trader in Mosul, speaking by telephone, said no new food or fuel supplies had reached the city since Sunday.

“We’ve been living under a real state of siege for a week,” said one resident of west Mosul, several kilometers from the frontline neighborhoods on the east bank of the Tigris river.

“Two days ago the electricity generator supplying the neighborhoods stopped working because of lack of fuel. Water is cut and food prices have risen and it’s terribly cold. We fear the days ahead will be much worse.”

Iraqi troops waging a six-week-old offensive against the militants controlling Mosul have advanced into eastern city districts, while other forces have sealed Mosul’s southern and northern approaches and 10 days ago blocked the road west.

But advances have been hampered by waves of counter-attacks from the ultra-hardline Islamists who have controlled the city since mid-2014 and built a network of tunnels in preparation for their defense of north Iraq’s largest city.

The slow progress means the campaign is likely to drag on throughout the winter, and has prompted warnings from aid groups that civilians face a near complete siege in the coming months.
