National Review - Grassley's Kangaroo Court
[NR] So now it looks like next Thursday.
But it could be Christmas.
On Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s manifestly meritorious nomination to the Supreme Court, what was supposed to be the vote out of the Senate Judiciary Committee this past Thursday now appears to be sliding into a hearing to be held next Thursday. Or, who knows, maybe a Thursday or two after that. Or maybe The First of Never ‐ though even that would undoubtedly be postponed to The Twelfth of Never.

Delay, delay, delay. It is what the Democrats want and it is what the Democrats are getting. They took the measure of their opposition and figured the GOP would bring a knife to a gunfight. From the first day of the confirmation hearing, committee chairman Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa) ceded control of the proceedings to the minority ‐ in particular, to its ever-harder-Left, mak show presidential primary contestants.

It’s a kangaroo court.

Understand, this is not about Christine Blasey Ford. She’s a tool ‐ a quite willing tool, but a tool all the same. This is not even about the eminently qualified federal circuit-court judge Brett Kavanaugh ‐ it would be no different regardless of which nominee President Trump selected in consultation with White House counsel Don McGahn, the Federalist Society, the Heritage Foundation, and the rest of the originalist, conservative legal community come of age. Democrats do not want a model of constitutional fidelity and judicial restraint elevated to the Supreme Court. End of story.

And who can blame them? Republicans did not want the eminently qualified federal circuit-court judge Merrick Garland to be elevated to the Supreme Court.

#1  I can, and do, blame them, and all of you Assholes at National Review. Grassley pisses me off, but you I regard as traitorous dogs.

#2  If it were up to NRO, the Committee would be voting on a Beast nominee.

#3  The way they ignore Garlands politics like it doesn't matter, while pointing out the politics of the Judiciary Com is so tone deaf a Steamroller could crush them, and they wouldn't see it until they're half-flat.

Rod Rosenstein Suggested Secretly Recording Trump and Discussed 25th Amendment
[NYT] WASHINGTON ‐ The deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, suggested last year that he secretly record President Trump in the White House to expose the chaos consuming the administration, and he discussed recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit.

Mr. Rosenstein made these suggestions in the spring of 2017 when Mr. Trump’s firing of James B. Comey as F.B.I. director plunged the White House into turmoil. Over the ensuing days, the president divulged classified intelligence to Russians in the Oval Office, and revelations emerged that Mr. Trump had asked Mr. Comey to pledge loyalty and end an investigation into a senior aide.

Mr. Rosenstein was just two weeks into his job. He had begun overseeing the Russia investigation and played a key role in the president’s dismissal of Mr. Comey by writing a memo critical of his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation. But Mr. Rosenstein was caught off guard when Mr. Trump cited the memo in the firing, and he began telling people that he feared he had been used.

Mr. Rosenstein made the remarks about secretly recording Mr. Trump and about the 25th Amendment in meetings and conversations with other Justice Department and F.B.I. officials. Several people described the episodes, insisting on anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. The people were briefed either on the events themselves or on memos written by F.B.I. officials, including Andrew G. McCabe, then the acting bureau director, that documented Mr. Rosenstein’s actions and comments.

#4  So how is the unredacted release of classified documents coming along, Rod? The American public wants to know.

#5  NYT + McCabe = Bull$hit.

The time is not yet right to dispose of Mr. Rosenstein, imo.

#6  This past year has seen a number of stories in the MFM which were clearly engineered to goad Trump into firing Mueller. Trump hasn't taken the bait, so now its Rosenstein. As Levin noted, just like Comey, a fired Rod R. would suddenly become the left's BFF and it's Watergate II till doomsday.

#7  Rosenstein says the story is fake news.
I wouldn't put it past the Media to invent this kind of story to cause dissension in the White House.

#8  Who to believe. MFM or Rod. I am going with Rod here, as the Slimes is the Slimes. Completely untrustworthy. Not that I feel all warm and fuzzy with anyone in the DOJ at this time.

#9  It seems that as time goes on, many of the top tier of DOJ/FBI have been neutralized (fired, reassigned, referred for prosecution, resigned).

Seventy-Five Women Voice Support for Kavanaugh
h/t Instapundit
Seventy-five women with long-standing associations with Judge Brett Kavanaugh came forward on Friday to voice their defense of the embattled Supreme Court nominee. Kavanaugh is accused of committing sexual assault while in high school 36 years ago.

Sharing intimate stories from their personal and professional lives, the women painted a portrait of Kavanaugh greatly differing from that being promoted by Democrats and the media.
IMO, the accusations are simply an act of feminazi terrorism. There is Islamic terrorism where Muzzies kill people using whatever means available. And there is feminazi terrorism using false accusations.

#3  This works out well. Sotomayor, Kagan and Notorious RGB can't ever side with Kavanaugh. They are backed in a corner of their own making.

#4  Any of 'em gonna vote for his confirmation?

#5  It is all over. Brett should remove himself from the hearings and walk away. There is no way he will ever get the nomination, its over. Every scenario I can imagine he ends up disgraced and out. She gets to testify, makes the accusation. He says he did not do it. The dems call on the FBI to investigate, they have an on the record sexual assault accusation. What she will do is stand up and name a dozen classmates as witnesses. Then what will congress do? Not let them testify? A miscarriage of justice. The mob rule and the hypocrite Feinstein have won. Trump needs to pick a radical right judge to replace him as the nomination. He needs to place him when congress is out of session. Fuck the greasy democrats. Brett was a moderate, lets put in a radical. I'm done with them...

#8  Pan - I totally disagree. She was put up to this. Nobody else corroborates. Full speed ahead and f*ck her and her lying DNC mouthpieces. You give in on this, and it;s GAME OVER for any competent originalist justices. Fight them tooth and nail

#9  Frank, I'm not giving up. I just don't see a way for them to get it done by 1 OCT. I agree this is a stunt that she was put up to. There will be no procedural way to get this done before the mid terms. Judge Kavanaugh is the perfect pick. He is as moderate and honest as they come.

I wish to associate myself with the comments of the gentlemen in #8. Only with more bile and spittle.

Hey, what if we hold the vote and *then* hold the hearing. That way we can take care of the adult stuff first and then play Mean Girls. If the accusation is credible, we can always impeach him. Gosh, I'm like Solomon!

#13  Poor Deb Katz, back to the dugout. Perhaps the "butch hair and school shooter eyes" were perceived as a turn-off.

#14  Sadly, this fine man is ruined for no reason but the viletactics of personal annihilation by Democrats who have no moral compass but power. The farce and circus to come in this and the midterms are likely to be laughable and heartbreaking. Grassley just failed us at a pivotal moment in the history of the Republic. Calculated compromise is merely cowardice cloaked in self delusion. Fools...
