Korea, U.S. Ready to Discuss Transfer of Wartime Command
South Korea and the United States will be discussing how to increase the former's role in their bilateral military alliance, including the transfer of wartime command to the South Korean side, a senior Defense Ministry official said Thursday after a meeting with his U.S. counterpart. Pentagon officials are active about discussing relocation of a U.S. Army garrison from downtown Seoul, and size readjustments in U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) will call for revisions in land lease agreements with the United States, Assistant Defense Minister for Policy Cha Young-koo said.Sounds like a good idea.
