American Taliban's Dad Defends His Boy: I Declare Shenanigans
I know he's just sticking up for his kid, but this article, entitled "The Crimeless Crime: The Prosecution of John Walker Lindh," is crap. He repeats the lie that we gave money to the Taliban in 2001, and he claims that John Boy went to Afghanistan to help the "Freedom Fighters," aka, the Taliban, fight off the oppressive and rapacious "Russian-backed Northern Alliance." He says John John had no idea that the Taliban had a horrendous human rights record, but later alleges he was afraid of Dostum on account of his reputation for having murdered some Taliban fighters in 1997. For such a studious guy, Lindh was only selectively well-informed. Also, Taliboy was "unimpressed" by bin Laden, yet admitted that he trained at an al Qaeda camp, that his "heart had become attached" to the Taliban and that every Muslim aspired to become a martyr.
