12 civilians killed in Kunar
 Twelve civilians were killed after unidentified assailants opened fire on them in eastern Afghanistan's Kunar province on Friday, the provincial governor said on Saturday. In a separate incident, two soldiers were injured in a grenade attack in the provincial capital, Asad Abad, governor Assadulla Wafa said. Tribal elder Muhammad Faqir and several relatives and friends were ambushed and killed in Manogay district of Kunar province, Wafa said. "Faqir and his 11 friends and relatives were on their way home as their vehicle came under light arms fire by unidentified armed men and they were all killed," Wafa said.
