Huge Pakistan rally demands US expulsion from UN
Hundreds of thousands of people marched through the northern Pakistani city of Peshawar on Sunday, making faces, rolling their eyes, and hollering in protest against the US-led war in Iraq. The demonstrators passed a resolution demanding expulsion of the United States from the United Nations for launching attack on Iraq without the authorization of the Security Council.
"The demonstrators passed a resolution"? Y'mean like, "All in favor holler 'yar!'"?
Local correspondents say that hundreds of thousands of people took part in the demonstration. The participants of the 'Million March' burnt US flags and effigy of American President George W. Bush. The protesters held banners and placards inscribed with 'Bush International Terrorist', 'Bush launched attack on Islam', 'Bush the enemy of Muslims' and 'We strongly condemn war on Iraq'. The demonstrators also chanted slogans against Bush and in supportof Iraqi people and government. Some of the participants held portraits of Saddam and Osama bin Laden.
Sounds like a wonderful time was had by all. None of these people seem to have jobs, of course, so they have the time to do such things...
The six-party alliance of Islamic groups Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) organized the 'Million March', the second since the start of the US-led military action against Iraq and fourth this month. The rally reflected Pakistanis' strong feelings towards the war: Pakistanis feel great sympathy towards Saddam Hussein and consider the war as against Islamic nation.
That's because Sammy's such a lovable cuss...
Peshawar, the capital of North West Frontier Province, was packed with unemployables people and central leaders of the alliance boarded a truck and reached venue of the public meeting few hours behind the scheduled time of the rally. Chief of the MMA Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani told the rally that the UN inspectors did not find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq but even then the United States and its allies imposed brutal war on Iraq. "Iraq does not possess weapons of mass destruction but the enemy (US) has weapons of mass destruction," Noorani said. He paid rich tributes to the Iraqis for resisting Americans and their allies. He said removal of Saddam Hussain is only an excuse and the US President Bush wants to conquer Islamic countries one after one. He regretted that disunity among the Islamic countries has led to the aggressive posture of Bush and his staunch ally Blair.
Noorani is the head of Jamaat i-Ulema i-Pakistan (JUP). JUP has declared war on the U.S., the only one of the three "mainstream" fundo parties to openly do so...
The MMA Deputy Chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed condemned sanctions by the United States on a Pakistan nuclear and missile manufacturing body and said Washington has not slapped such curbs on Israel and India. "The United States is making claims of peace and humanity but it has only gifted war and destruction to the world."
They're not slapped on Israel and India because they're not crawling with wild-eyed nut cases like Pakland is. Though India sometimes seems to be working on it...
The MMA Secretary General Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the United States stands alone as most of the countries have rejected the war. He said, "Bush had launched Crusade in Afghanistan, which has now been extended to Iraq."
With Pakland somewhere down the road unless they get their act together, which they won't until Qazi, Fazl and Noorani are hung...
