Islamic Jihad: Bombers sent to Baghdad
Palestinian Islamic Jihad said Sunday it had sent a first wave of suicide bombers to Baghdad to help Iraqis fight US and British troops, as Iraq said more than 4,000 Arabs ready to âmartyrâ themselves had already arrived in the country. âThe Mujahideen who have come to Iraq have come from all Arab countries, without exception,â Iraqi military spokesman Hazim al-Rawi said. âWe are a believing people, a fighting people, Jihad is a must, a duty ordained by God.â
"If you've got the infidels, we've got the boomers!"
Arab public opinion has been galvanized by Iraqâs unexpectedly strong military resistance to coalition forces, as well as images of dead civilians, including babies, and has enraged some Arabs to the point that they are ready to act as suicide bombers. âAl-Quds Brigades brings to our people and nation the good news of the arrival of its first martyrdom (attackers) to the heart of Baghdad,â a statement from the armed wing of Islamic Jihad said. âThis is to fulfill the holy duty of defending Arab and Muslim land,â it said. âIraq, we heed your call,â the statement said, adding that âit is one war from Najaf to Tulkarem and from Jenin to Baghdad.â
I hope Mr Bush takes precisely the same position...
Islamic Jihadâs Lebanon representative, Abu Imad al-Rifai, confirmed the statement to Reuters. He said the suicide bombers had not come from Palestinian territories but from several countries.
