UN Peacekeepers Burn Grass Huts In Congo
The UN mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) said Friday that peacekeeping troops had destroyed without using force six Rwandan rebel camps in the eastern province of Sud-Kivu on Thursday.The UN peacekeepers, known as MONUC, said they issued an ultimatum to around 200 rebels in the camps, located in the bushy areas of Nindja. Rebels fled before UN peacekeepers came and set fire to their grass-thatched huts. In Miranda, MONUC also urged another group of rebels to abandon their camps before Monday.
