'Expulsion of foreign students unconstitutional'
PESHAWAR: The NWFP's Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister  Malik Zafar Azam has termed the federal government's decision to deport religious seminaries' foreign students unconstitutional and said that the provincial government reserved the right to challenge the decision in court. Talking to a three-member US State Department delegation that called on him on Wednesday, Azam said that the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) government conformed with the decision of the apex court regarding the Hisba Bill. He said that the bill would be reexamined after receiving the detailed decision of the court and then implemented in the province. The minister informed the US delegation that the NWFP government had registered 300 madrassas so far, and 400 more were in the registration process.Posted by: Fred 2005-08-11 |
