Get British or get out, âcurry kingâ tells fellow Muslims
A leading Muslim told his fellow immigrants to âget outâ of Britain if they do not respect British values, newspapers reported Thursday. Sir Gulam Noon, founder of the Noon Products ready-meals firm and dubbed the âcurry kingâ, told Muslim immigrants to Britain they needed to recognise they were relative newcomers to British society. âIf immigrants to Britain do not like that, the answer is simple. Get out,â the Indian-born 69-year-old said. âGo back to wherever you regard as your own country and leave the rest of us in peace.â
The Daily Mail and the Daily Express cited the comments made in the Financial Times business daily. Last month, the British govrnment launched a crackdown aimed at Islamist extremists fomenting, justifying and glorifying terrorism in response to the London bombings. On July 7, four British apparent suicide bombers left 56 people dead in attacks on the capitalâs transport system. Three were of Pakistani origin while the fourth was a naturalised Jamaican. âI dearly want to see Muslims in my chosen country of domicile thriving as part of an integrated, intelligent, vibrant society,â Noon said. âThis means answering our dilemma unequivocally by affirming our nationality as British but our religion as Muslim. It also means escaping our ghettos and assimilating fully into society.â
