The Impeachment of Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco
(First draft. Please feel free to distribute.) Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, governor of the State of Louisiana, chose to disregard repeated warnings of the imminent threat to her State. By her actions, she is therefore directly and indirectly responsible for the death of thousands of people. Unlike the governors of the States of Mississippi and Alabama, by whose actions severe natural disaster was limited almost exclusively to property damage, governor Blanco, for whatever reason, chose inaction and indecision at a critical time. She did not make use of more than adequate resources available in her State for protecting its citizens, nor did she request federal assistance until after the disaster had fully descended upon her State.
