2 soldiers killed in NPA land mine explosion
TWO government soldiers were injured when a landmine, planted by suspected communist insurgents, exploded on a village in the southern Philippines, the military said.The military said the soldiers, onboard a jeep, was returning to their base on Wednesday when their hit a landmine near the village of Danlas in South Cotabato's Tampakan town. It tagged the New People's Army (NPA) as behind the explosion. The two soldiers were rushed to hospital. The NPA, armed wing of the outlawed Communist Party of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front (CPP-NDF), is fighting the past three decades to overthrow the government and install a Maoist state in the country.
