59 suspects under arrest in aftermath of Friday riots
 The police are following up measures of controlling the 5,000 people riots that took place in Muharram Bey suburb in the coastal Alexandria city yesterday, said a security source Saturday, describing the riots as extremist. The Middle East News Agency (MENA) quoted the source as saying that 59 suspects were detained in the event's aftermath. The riots had erupted at Muharram Bey yesterday when thousands staged a strike against a play show by a Coptic church claiming that it offended Islam.About 5,000 Muslims gathered after Friday prayers off a Coptic church. The Egyptian Police stood against the demonstrators, who tossed stones at the church, police, and pedestrians, causing some injuries. Security forces used tear gas to breakup the demonstration. Yesterday's demonstration is the second since last week against the play staged in the church's theater, though church officials denied that the play offended the Islamic religion.
