Five FC men injured in Waziristan blasts
MIR ALI: Three powerful explosions wounded five paramilitary personnel in North Waziristan on Monday. Security officials said that five Frontier Constabulary (FC) jawans were injured in an explosion near a paramilitary check post close to the Government High School in the Hurmuz area, while the two other blasts near of local hospitals caused no casualties. The wounded FC personnel were airlifted to Peshawar for medical treatment and were in serious condition. Meanwhile, officials said that local authorities have arrested five tribal policemen for failing to provide security in the area. Security personnel said that the blasts were a reaction to the impending ban on the public display of weapons in Mir Ali Bazar.
Maybe they should think about banning the use of explosives, too...
Better color coding for the wires ...
“The tribesmen have carried out the explosion,” a tribal elder claimed. “The government is banning display of weapons, but we carry them for our protection because the authorities do not accept responsibility if someone is killed more than 200 metres from either side of the road.” According to a political treaty, the local administration is responsible for the tribesmen’s security within 200 metres on either side of the road and not beyond it. The tribals are demanding that the ban on weapons’ display be linked to an amendment to the law to extend the administration’s security responsibility beyond 200 metres.
