Three Russian soldiers and a policeman have been killed in fighting in Chechnya, a source in the local government told AFP Wednesday.Two soldiers died and three were wounded during attacks by insurgents on military posts, while another died near the mountain village of Itum-Kale in a landmine explosion, the official, who requested anonymity, said by telephone from Grozny. On Tuesday a policeman was killed in Grozny and two others died when their patrol came under fire. A fourth soldier died in the eastern hill district of Nozhai-Yurt in an accidental explosion. The violence came as Russian authorities prepared to hold elections to a local parliament seeking to show peace has returned to the tiny, impoverished province.
