Malaysian Marine Police Considering Hovercraft
The Marine Police are considering using hovercrafts to further boost their efficiency. Assistant Commander (Development/Finance/Projects) of Marine Police, ACP Teh Heng Thong said they were trying out several hovercrafts and if found suitable, the Marine Police would submit a proposal to the government to buy them under the Ninth Malaysia Plan."They can travel over areas where boats cannot enter such as muddy areas," he told reporters after witnessing demonstrations on rescuing a ship from pirates in the waters of Awana Porto Malai here.
