Two More Iraqi leaders âin custodyâ
US military officials say another two senior members of Saddam Hussein's regime have been taken into custody. A statement from Central Command in Qatar says the US is now holding a deputy prime minister and a vice-president from the ousted administration. Their apprehension would take the total number of leaders now in coalition custody to 17. One of the men is named as Abdul Tawab Mullah Hwaish, minister of military industrialisation and number 16 of 55 "most-wanted" members of the former regime. No details have been given on whether Mr Hwaish, who was also a deputy prime minister, was captured or gave himself up. The other man said to be now in coalition custody is identified as Taha Mohieddin Ma'rouf. Central Command says he was a vice-president and a member of the Republican Command Council. He was number 42 on the list of targeted officials. 17 out of 55, not too bad.
