Iran plays the Gas and Oil card.
ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey reported a significant decrease in natural gas from Iran. The Turkish Energy Ministry said natural gas from Iran has been reduced by 80 percent. The ministry said Turkey has been receiving between five and six million cubic meters of gas per day. Iran has been contracted to relay 26 million cubic meters of gas daily to Turkey through a pipeline. The gas reduction was the latest development in the troubled energy cooperation between Ankara and Teheran. Since 2004, Ankara has demanded a reduction in the price of Iranian energy. Officials said Iran has attributed the gas reduction to a technical problem at its production facilities. They said the Iranian decline has affected Turkish and other consumers.
