Plot to poison Grozny water supply thwarted
 Servicemen of the Zapad (West) battalion have clashed with a group of militants who are suspected of plotting a major terrorist attack in Grozny and of planning to poison drinking water in parts of the Chechen capital. Weapons and two kilograms of mercury were confiscated from the militants. "One of the militants is believed to have been killed in the armed clash," battalion commander Said-Magomed Kakiyev told Interfax. "It has been established that the group included at least three people," he said. A Shmel flame-thrower, three anti-tank grenade launchers, a Kalashnikov assault rifle and grenades were confiscated from the scene, he said.
