India: Committees formed to check terror funding
 India has formed two top-level committees in New Delhi and Srinagar to check the flow of funds to Jammu and Kashmir. State Home Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal told the Rajya Sabha that various agencies of the government were taking measures to prevent funding to militant organisations. He said that the arrest of a Dubai-based engineer in Delhi on February 3, and the recovery of Rs 5.5m in cash and explosives from his possession confirms the involvement of Middle East businessmen in 'hawala' operations to fund militancy.Posted by: Fred 2006-02-23 |
