Palestinian leaders condemn EU, US aid cuts
Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniya and President Mahmoud Abbas have lashed out at the US and EU decision to halt direct financial aid to the Palestinian Authority. Mr Haniya, a senior member of the Islamic radical Hamas movement, described the decisions as "hasty and unjust" after a meeting with Mr Abbas. "The world should respect the choice of the Palestinian people," Mr Haniya said. Mr Abbas said "the Palestinian people should not be punished for their democratic choice".
