'No Alternative to Diplomacy in Resolving Iranian Crisis'
Russia and Germany agree that there is no alternative but to rely on diplomacy and politics to resolve the crisis over Irans nuclear program.
A statement from Russian Foreign Ministry reports that Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, and Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Lavrovs German counterpart, met in the Siberian town of Tomsk for a joint program by the Russian-German Business Council.
The statement said the two days of meetings between the two ministers are meant to outline a coordinated position on Irans nuclear program.
Both Russia and Germany rule out alternatives other than diplomacy and politics in the enforcement of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, as well as in resolving the crisis over Irans nuclear program.
The deadline set by the United Nations Security Council for Iran to meet demands over its nuclear program will end on Friday.
