Palestinian civil servants to strike over non-payment
This will be entertaining. Wonder if a Paleo strike includes demonstrations with large puppets? | RAMALLAH, West Bank - Palestinian government employees will go on strike on Saturday over the non-payment of salaries by the cash-starved Hamas-led government, their union announced on Thursday.
Civil servants will stage a two-hour walkout from 8:00 am to 10:00 am (0500 GMT to 0700 GMT) to protest against the non-payment of cheques since March.
Then they'll return to their non-jobs at the Gaza airport. | The Palestinian Authority employs more than 160,000 people, half of whom work as thug-boyz for the security services, although the strike order affects only those in civilian jobs.
The total wage bill runs in excess of 120 million dollars a month and affects the livelihoods of around one million people, or a quarter of the population in the Palestinian territories.
Assuming the Paleo population is that large, which it prob'ly isn't. |
