Jamaat continues action against âobscenityâ
LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and its youth wing Shabab-e-Milli (SM) continued their anti-obscenity campaign on Saturday as rallies were staged and demonstrations held in various parts of Punjab. In Lahore, JI and SM started a public awareness campaign demonstrating in various parts of the provincial metropolis, especially where there are billboards displaying women. Mian Maqsood, JIâs Lahore head, and Bashir Chaudhry, SMâs city head, led the demonstrations.
They're the local Big Turbans... | JIâs Punjab secretary general Azhar Hassan, deputy secretary general Imran Zahoor and information secretary Abdul Wahab Niazi condemned the cases registered against the JI workers in Multan, and asked the government to release them immediately âotherwise our campaign can change its mood, and then the responsibility would rest with the rulers.â
"Since we're incapable of controlling ourselves..." | They said JI had started a public problemsâ campaign and urged the administration to remove all âimmoral and un-Islamic billboards.â They said JI had extended its campaign to June 15.
