Fatah gunmen rampage through Ramallah
Gunmen loyal to Fatah rampaged through the West Bank city of Ramallah last night, shooting up parliament and torching the prime minister's office in a worsening power struggle with the ruling Hamas movement.The attacks were launched after Hamas militants besieged the southern Gaza headquarters of the Palestinian preventive security force, which is Fatah-controlled, and fired rocket-propelled grenades. Five people were wounded in the assault. The events in Ramallah began shortly after Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority's Fatah president, ordered security forces on to the streets to maintain law and order in the light of the Gaza violence.
