Two officers injured in Turkish land mine blast
(KUNA) -- Two Turkish officers were injured on Saturday when a landmine planted by Kurdish mutineers [sic] went off in east Turkey. Ihlas news agency quoted sources as that the blast took place in Maden town, close to Elazig governorate, while a military patrol was shuttling at the main street. The source added that the patrol vehicle hit a landmine planted at the roadside, noting that the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. The armed PKK mutineers have stepped up attacks against Turkish security forces over the past few months. The PKK, the Kurdish Workers Party, is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
