SaddamÂ’s second trial for murder of 100,000 Kurds opens August 21
 He and six co-defendants will face charges of having killed an estimated 100,000 Kurds and destroying thousands of Kurdish villages in the 1980s, including the chemical attack in Halabja, Kurdistan, in 1988 that killed some 5,000 civilians, mostly women and children. In a trial that began last October, Saddam and seven co-defendants are accused of killing Shiites in Dujail in 1982.
