Iraq Fails to Apply US-Style Illegal Immigration Penalties
The trial court found Peter/Abu Hamza Cheraf guilty of illegal border crossing, in violation of Article 24 of the Iraqi Passport Law, and sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment. Coalition Forces apprehended the defendant after they discovered he did not have a valid passport or any identification in his possession. The trial court found Abdullah RadÂ’da Zayed Al-Harithi guilty of illegal border crossing, in violation of Article 10 of the Iraqi Passport Law, and sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment.
