Israel needs a purge of its leaders
War, like all obscenities, breeds perversion.Much as we have grown to know war, we were still shocked by the perversity of the one man whose job it is in wartime to most directly inspire nobility, unity of purpose, trust, sensitivity to comrades, reasoned judgment under fire and, above all, focus. The blood had not yet dried on Israel's side of the border with Lebanon. Eight soldiers lay dead, two others kidnapped across the footprint strip and the tripwire fence and the concertina wire and the chain link, into Hezbollah's heartland in Lebanon.
