Al-Qaeda suspects of Istanbul bombing stand trial
Trial proceedings have resumed for 72 suspected members of a Turkish Al-Qaeda cell implicated in the Istanbul bombing three years ago. Prosecutors are charging key suspect, Syrian Loa'I Mohammad Haj Bakr Al-Saqa, with masterminding the suicide bombings and have asked that he be given a life sentence. The deadly attacks in November 2003 killed 58 people, targeting two synagogues, the British Consulate General and the local headquarters of the HSBC bank.
