'Kabul paid man arrested for attacks'
Pakistani police said on Wednesday they arrested an Afghan “who claims that the government in Kabul paid him to fire rockets inside Peshawar”. Peshawar police chief Habibur Rahman identified the detainee only as Noorullah, and said at a news conference that the man told police that he and three accomplices, who are still at large, received at least Rs 1 million for firing five rockets in two separate attacks on October 17 and November 6. No casualties were caused by the rockets.

Afghan officials were not immediately available for comment on the allegations. The detainee, an ethnic Pashtun with a beard, was present at Wednesday’s news conference, but reporters were not permitted to ask him questions. The police chief said that Noorullah had confessed to “carrying out terrorist activities”, and he and three others each received Rs 50,000 per missile fired.
