New polio case confirmed
LANDIKOTAL: A new poliovirus case was confirmed here on Friday, raising the tally of such cases in the province to 13, and in the country to 30.
Aisha had not been administered the anti-polio vaccine.
Aisha, an eight-month-old child from Bacha Mina, was the most recent victim who lost one of her left limbs to the disease. According to the head of the NWFP polio team, Dr Abdur Raza, test reports have confirmed that the child was infected with polio. He said the new case might have surfaced due to increased interaction between the people of Bacha Mina and those of Afghanistan. He claimed that Aisha had not been administered the anti-polio vaccine.
