Egypt: a proposal to unify the subject of Fridayâs sermon
A source close to the Egyptian ministry of al-Awqaf ( Islamic Trusts) said yesterday that the ministry wants to decide the subject of Fridayâs prayers sermon on a weekly bases to as to avoid "destructive" speeches. The source which asked to be unanimous said that the "Ministry is studying a proposal to unify the subject of Fridayâs sermon," noting that this will be through notifying the Imams of the subject in Fridayâs sermon in 71,800 mosques affiliate to the ministry. A source close to the file considered that "this aims at avoiding extremist speeches and sermons or those provoking revolution against the regime."I donât know what any of this means either...
