Man gets three years for his involvement in terrorism
Panel of judges in Surabaya District Court Tuesday punished Ahamd Arif alias Banjar three years in jail for his involvement in a bomb explosion in front of Australian embassy in Jakarta in 2004. The verdict was lighter than five year jail term of prosecutors' recommendation. Arif was also accused of being involved in al-Qaida-linked Jemaah Islamiyah network, which is allegedly responsible for a number of bomb blasts in the country. Arif and his lawyers said they would appeal to the higher court.
