Eastern Sudan: A forgotten crisis
While the worlds attention is fixed on the Darfur killing fields, eastern Sudan struggles to cope with nearly 200,000 displaced people.

If Darfur, Sudans neglected westernmost region, is the Cinderella of the country, then eastern Sudan must be its ugly stepsister.
Subjected to similar levels of marginalization by the Khartoum government as Darfur, and a virtual absence of social service infrastructure, the humanitarian crisis in the east may be even worse than that in Darfur, according to some diplomats and aid workers.
