New administration installed in central Somalia
(SomaliNet) Shortly after the takeover of southern and central Somalia, the interim government empowered by the Ethiopian forces formed on Monday a new administration for Hiran region in central Somalia as the government is now affirming total control of Somalia.
Somalias president Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed has nominated Hussein Mohamud as chairperson of Hiran region who will replace Yusuf Ahmed Hagar Dabageed, former administrator of the province. The president, who made the nomination in a decree he has issued today, said he had consulted with his Prime Minister Ali Gedi over the replacement of Dabageed. Suleiman Ahmed Hilawle was named as his assistant chairman. The president has also nominated other individuals as district commissioners in the region.
Meanwhile, the allied forces of Somalia and Ethiopia have taken control of Kismayo city, 500 km (310 miles) south of the capital Mogadishu. Hundreds of people have welcomed the arrival of the Ethiopian and government forces in Kismayu. Islamists have entirely gone out of Kismayo area heading to unknown destination. In Dhobley town which borders Kenya, the Islamists were reported to have run away left there without fighting. The Islamists are still on the run.
