Cop foils bombing bid
 City police on Sunday recovered a time bomb near the main gate of the Metrological Department situated in front of the NWFP Assembly building, police said. Capital City Police Chief Malik Saad told Daily Times that a High Court guard, Head Constable Murad Khan, informed East Cantt police station officials, at 11:00 am, of a shopping bag containing a 1.5 kg bomb. Malik Saad said bomb disposal squad officials then reached the area and defused the bomb. He added that the act was aimed at creating a sense of insecurity among residents. He said nobody had been arrested, but that an investigation was underway. Another police official said that the bombs target was the NWFP Assembly building.
