Olmert: Iran can be stopped without resorting to violence
There is no need for military action to stop Iran from moving forward with its nuclear program, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations on Tuesday night. "If the international community joins forces and applies the necessary restrictive measures on the economy of Iran, it will force Iran to reconsider its position," said Olmert. If Europe, the US, China and Russia join forces, he continued, "they can create such damage to the Iranian economy that it will force them to reconsider." Olmert made it clear that he believes that the Iranian threat "is not as close as the Iranians want us to think. They are not as close to the threshold as they pretend to be.
