UNHCR seeks international help for Somali refugees
(SomaliNet) An estimated 50,000 asylum-seekers from Somalia have entered neighboring Ethiopia in the past eight months, a UN humanitarian information service has reported, quoting preliminary findings of an assessment team from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). "They are in need of food and other emergency supplies," Millicent Mutuli, UNHCR regional spokeswoman, was quoted as saying by the Integrated Regional Information Networks (IRIN) on Thursday, adding that the UNHCR would work out an assistance plan with the Ethiopian government.
