3 Army officers being investigated of their linkage with extremists
Pakistan Army has been investigating the suspected engagement of three Army officers with extremist organization. âThree Army officers ranking less than Lieutenant Colonels are under investigation on their engagements with extremist organizations. But the investigation mechanism absolutely belong to Pakistan Army and no foreign intelligence agency including the US FBI has any connection to such investigation,â Major General Shaukat Sultan told to here Sunday while talking on telephone. He said that these officers have violated the Army discipline âand we have our own mechanism to investigate and take action against any violation of the discipline and they are going through the same.â

The General however denied to give any information about the preliminary investigation and also denied to tell about the dates when these officers were booked. âThis is Pakistan Armyâs internal matter of administrationâis hard to offer any comment.â

When his attention was drawn to a report appeared in a section of press suggesting arrest of 12 officers of Pakistan Armyâunder investigation of having secret linkages with religious extremist organization, he said, âsuch reports are concocted and baselessânumber is only three and officers are holding a rank lower than Lt. Colonel.â

âSuch investigation is not abnormal and is just a routine matter in connection to the discipline of Pakistan Army,â he said.
