Fatah Man Killed Ahead Of Palestinian Government Vote
Jerusalem, 16 March (AKI) - A Palestinian intelligence official affiliated to the Fatah faction was shot dead in the Gaza Strip on Friday one day before Palestinian parliamentarians were set to vote on a new coalition government made up of members of Fatah and of its main rival Hamas. According to a report by Israel Radio the intelligence officer was killed in the village of Deir el-Balah after unknown gunmen stopped the vehicle he was travelling in and after a brief argument opened fire. The Palestinian Authority's Military Intelligence is affiliated with PA President Mahmoud Abbas who leads Fatah and many of its members have been involved in clashes with Hamas in the recent infighting.
