Over 70 political activists held in Rawalpindi
The police on Saturday arrested over 70 political activists belonging to various opposition parties during raids on their houses. These activists belong to the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Tehrik-e-Insaaf. It has been learnt that police have detained them under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance to stop them from taking part in the March 26 strike called by the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy. The strike has been called to denounce Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhrys suspension by President Pervez Musharraf.
