Bannu 'vulgarity dens' given 15 days
Local Taliban have given a 15-day deadline to operators of vulgarity dens to end their businesses or face action, a Bannu-based security official, asking not to be named, told Daily Times on Monday. He said the Taliban had also announced they would enforce Sharia in Bannu and wage war against the government if it tried to stop them. He said the decision was taken at a meeting of local Taliban commanders attended by Abu Muhammad, Mufti Farooq, Commander Barkat and Maulvi Attaullah and presided over by the Talibans Bannu chief Mufti Abu Hamza at an undisclosed location. Daily Times made repeated attempts to contact the Bannu DPO, but he was unavailable. The DPO had recently stated local police were backing the Taliban in eliminating social crimes peacefully.
