Peshawar hotel blast kills over 24
PESHAWAR: More than 24 people killed and several injured when a blast occurred in a hotel situated at main road here on Tuesday.

Interior Ministry has confirmed the killing of 19 people whereas investigations teams have formed on the directives of Frontier chief minister.

Frontier Chief Minister has also announced the compensation of Rs.0.1 million each for deceased and Rs. 50,000 each for injured.

According to police sources, 4 to 5 kilograms of explosives were used in the blast. Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ibad has condemned the Peshawar bomb blast.

According to SSP Investigations Jameelur Rehman, investigations of the incident are underway.

The blast happened in Marhaba Hotel located at crowded Naz Cinema Road close to the centuries-old Mahabat Mosque. The hotel is famous for its variety of food and mostly Afghan nationals are the frequent visitors of the hotel.

The blast had completely destroyed the hotel building. Bodies and injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital where many injured were reported in a critical state. Emergency was announced in local hospitals after the blast.

Police had cordoned off the area and investigations are underway. Provincial and federal governments had already issued the security alert for Peshawar.
