Top Iraqi official surrenders
Iraqâs former defence minister has surrendered to United States forces in northern Iraq.An Iraqi negotiator said Sultan Hashim Ahmed, 27th on a US list of the most wanted former Iraqi officials, had given himself up in the city of Mosul. The news comes shortly after three American soldiers were killed in an ambush near Tikrit, the hometown of the former Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein. 76 US soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the end of hostilities was declared in May this year.
