Qazi rejects Qaeda call to ‘remove’ Gen Musharraf
Jamaat-e-Islami chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed has rejected Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al Zawahiri’s call for removing President Pervez Musharraf from power.
"Ayman! Are you nutz, talking like that?"
Talking to BBC, he said his party has no contact with any Qaeda leader.
"No, no! Certainly not! Oh, we rent them a room now and then, but we don't have any contact with them. They pay their rent, they're quiet, except for the gun battles..."
He added the extremist organization should not interfere in the internal politics of Pakistan. He said such a call could create problems in the country’s political system.
"I mean, Perv might actually have me bumped off this time! I gotta weak heart, y'know?"
